When PlantSkydd is fresh, it does not smell. Now if there was something that would control the voles!

Maybe I should put out the hubs bear bait. It is made out of beaver glands and the smell could kill anything by its stench. Which makes me wonder what the hell black bear like. Anywho, I'll see what's demolished this week and go from there. I do need to cordon off the blueberries. And give them a chance to recover some. I'll leave them wrapped until they take off. Again.

Heading home here shortly. Yay

Safe travels, Scarlet.
We've gotten warm enough to make more of my irises start blooming. Going out to weed as I'm overrun. I hope to sew more tonight.

I hit one of the iris beds yesterday and put a dent in the weeds in there. Slowly looking better. Need to catch my neighbors outside to see if I can have the old goat barn straw for my gardens. Save me alot of money in mulch. Plus I don't really have a way of getting bulk mulch right now unless I send my dad out. My old truck needs a new shifter cable so he has to drive it and his old truck I can't drive because motor is bad and he has to do things to keep it running. I may just get some money out soon and have him take his old truck out for me and get me a load.

It's been raining all day both home and where we were. The earth here certainly does need it. I'd have liked to get a few things planted but will take the rain and I can wait. Or catch some raindrops and not care, but it's also windy. So I'm good snuggled under a blanket and on my chair. When did I get old?

Tired really I guess.

The dahlias are trimmed and potted up. I'm not going to worry about splitting any of them. Just cleaned up of danglers and into the dirt. All had active eyes so it should t take forever before I see sprouts. I have about 17 other ones to put under the lights now that they are above ground 2-6". And those taller ones this week will begin moving outside.

And soon, into the dirt dirt!

Amanda: how long does goat poo have to mellow?

I'm off to finish this plant out chart!

From what we've seen there isn't much in there, just straw. It's gonna be used as mulch to save me some money. Doesn't look as good as wood mulch but it works great and if it's free I'll take it. I'm still fighting the boat which is sucking money out of me left and right so trying to save money where I can. Pile is taller and bigger than me so I'd have more than enough for my needs for all but the veggie garden but there will always be more.

Amanda, a colleague asked what I thought was the second happiest day of his life, said I couldn't even begin to guess...marriage, kids something along those lines. Nope it was when he got his boat! I said what was the happiest? The response was when he got rid of the boat.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I've been having issues with registration on the boat itself. Everything else is good now. Simple thing to get fixed as long as county is willing to do it and save us a trip to hwy patrol headquarters. Axle gets checked out tomorrow after work at a shop where I get a price quote on it.

Caught my neighbor earlier and will have a couple scoops of straw coming my way. Was told to keep an eye out for unknown baby goats in the pile. Hilarious!

Amanda: well hopefully these hurdles allow for a fun summer on your boat! Sorry you too are having truck issues! And yay for free poo and straw! As it ages w the sun it's lovely. The only issue I'd ask on is how many weeds those goats have been munching on but I'm sure this pile has aged enough maybe? We had that issue a horse poo and I had weird weeds never at this house.

Hello all!

It's a laundry and sewing day. I hope to finish these two dresses, I hope that goes easily. Having made the first one and working out the quirks already, it should. And laundry is laundry.

I had wanted to begin moving plants out and maybe only the heartiest for tonight as I think it's to get to 38-40° and that's too close to 32 for me yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Today I also need to do the dahlia shuffle and move about 15 of them under the lights. Then by end of week I should be able to pinch them and they can go out to the porch. Soon I'll be planting right?!

Starting to get itchy about planting out soon. Yay! It's time to get growing I think.

Happy new week ahead for you all!

It's already 72* this morning. I have major weeding to do as well as sewing. Today is also lesson night at the therapy barn. I'm usually leading a horse for clients.

Well I got the babies on the porch today. I'll probably cover them tonight. Just because. I don't feel like dragging them back in. I will head down to the basement and get my tote to bring dahlias down. See if anything needs a pinch and move things around.

Sewing not happening yet. Ugh. I'm doing dishes instead! Family out of the house and I'm just playing catch up w crap I need to do.

Hope to get the rest of my long list going!

Looks like more rain. Fine by me. Rain away. 🌧️

Dress one done less the hem. Need the kid to try it on. Hope it looks beautiful on as it looks frumpy on a hanger, but what doesn't if it's not super fitted?

Kid2 and I will head to the greenhouse and I'll see about sweet potato vines. We are hitting up the Amish greenhouse and will see. He hasn't been green housing w me in a while so we'll go look. And who knows what else we'll find.

BTW I saw my first oriole at my jelly feeder today. What a beautiful pop of color while I was sewing it zoomed on in for some grape jelly. Even the robins like it. I know probably not the best but I think it's a quick energy for them.

More after bit. Maybe I'll find something extra!

Kid2 and I found a few things and he's planning a lot of some flowers he thought that would make him happy.

We found a marigold that was beautiful - Fireball. It's a deep almost solid burgundy. I normally don't buy marigold plants but this one was beautimous so we bought a 4 pack.

Hope everyone is well.

It's cool out and not rainy though it could if it really wanted to. I need to go find a sheet. It's easier to cover the plants than it is to keep dragging them in and out of the house.

DH had therapy today so we spent most of the day running around. We were home for a while and off we went again.

I went out a bit ago and picked a bunch of asparagus. DH mentioned giving some to a guy at the Eagle's Club. I have a funeral tomorrow and will be meeting up with a DB and DS so I will take them both some asparagus.

I also took some flower pictures while outside. I pulled a few weeds around the Iris I wanted to photograph. They pulled really easy due to the rain so I am thinking tomorrow afternoon after my siblings and I are done with funeral and lunch, I just might will this area cause there are bloom stalks that will be blooming soon. Hurray!

It's the old truck that has the issues and there's a reason it's retired. Hilarious!

Pulled some grass out of my hosta bed and looked at some yellow irises that have started the bloom fest. Those suckers will be condensed down quite a bit this year. I need to mark leaves with a sharpie so when done blooming I know which ones to grab.

Amanda, that is a really good idea to mark leaves. I need to do that with my NoID's when they bloom.

My iris are all about 10-12" leaves no stalks yet. My grape hyacinths look lovely but I need to pick some. Haven't had time to do so!

Since the dress today is almost done, I should have time tomorrow as hems don't take forever. I'll be moving more plants out. Time to get underway. I have some more lilies to plant. Speaking of which those other ones haven't come up yet but those would be oriental. The asiatic are starting to nose further out of the ground. Does anyone know if they need support too? They probably do and I blanked that small bit of information.

Plants are snuggled under a tshirt sheet on the porch. Tomorrow I have some goals of the great move around with more emerging from the basement annuals and dahlias maybe even the tomatoes because they always do better w the real sun.

Lots to do lots on my mind!

Really just depends on the height of the lily, I don't usually stake until they get around4'

Mine never get staked at all. They're mixed with other plants so if they need support they have them to lean on. 99% of the time they don't need staked.
