An article in Monday's paper is about the bats having to leave much earlier in the evening to find insects. Coming out earlier makes them more visible to predators, such as hawks.

Newest report has Don heading too far south. Sorry Jay, hope it doesn't linger in your area for too long. Sad

Good link Linda. I'll take an inch if it's not too much to ask.

Alas, I guess Don isn't headed my way at all!

Bubbles, I love Caldwell's also, but if you are in the Richmond/Rosenberg area you ought to stop by Enchanted Forest (on Thompsons Hwy) or Enchanted Garden (on FM 359 + 723) they are really awesome!

Hmmmm, are you an enabler? I'll Google them and see if we can make both as a day trip. Thanks, always like to find another nursery or two!

I'm visualizing some refreshing - slightly breezy - showers of moderate rain.....from here to there.....for all of ya! .(as long as Texas gets the lion's share)

Thanks for the link, Linda!

Right now it looks like the RGV area will get most of it. Grumbling Grumbling

They've lowered our chances to 20%...good luck getting rain with that! I hate to say it, but maybe we DO need a weak hurricane to come to south Texas!

Linda - I'm watching the storm clouds building to the east/southeast. The first weak rain bands are moving through. They aren't much, but we're just as bad off as ya'll.

Sandi, don't despair over your rainwater system yet! I'll try to shoo some of the showers your way!

I was just out on Hwy 71 and it looked like it might pour. Got home and it's just cloudy. I will attempt my second rain dance later.

We've had a couple of short thunderstorms wander though, and it's still cloudy. We've gotten about a quarter of an inch of rain. Hopefully we'll get more before the storm moves farther inland.

lol Sandi!

I have my new plastic bucket out and full of water for the critters. One of the mama deer was standing about 20 feet away, watching me put it out. The hose running interested her but the noise scared her off. I'm sure she'll be back - I keep finding more and more deer m&ms in the yard.

No rain here, no rain at lake. I hand watered some salvias tonight. They're way late in growth and wilted. We have dead spots in the grass, first time I can remember. Bugs, the rabbit that has made this his home, is no longer afraid of me. I put water out for the deer (can't believe I did that) out front. The rabbit just kind of follows me. We gave him some cabbage, but he turned his nose up at it. Probably full from eating all my new sprouts. We have DGS tonight and he's "teaching" us magic tricks. We may try for a gig in Las Vegas.

I agree I agree I agree

I try not to feed the deer but they're coming up on the porch already. I kind of like my begonias so I want to keep them further away.

Cute gauge, Sandi! But you'll have to empty it often if it does rain! And that rabbit is definitely a pet! My rain gauge...doesn't get much use, that's for sure! BTW, I often see the deer waiting while I tend to the water and feed outside the fence. They are very needy! This evening the chickens were out there when I was going out, cleaning up whatever they could find, and the wild birds are there whenever other critters aren't around. Often squirrels go there too. Then there's the night critters...coons, wild hogs on occasion, not sure what else. "deer m&ms"...LOL!
