If you feel comfortable in doing so, would you let us know the seller so none of us place any orders?

Bonnie, I almost asked you if it's really tall- it looks like a Sib I got from Polly a few years ago that is the tallest I've ever seen, proportions more like a JI.

I got Lakota Warrior this year from another member, Marilyn ! But thanks for mentioning it ! I'm partial to the "reds', and "browns", and LW looks like it will be a real good "red". Hopefully it will bloom next year.......

There is a TB called Beam Me Up Scotty and one named Star Fleet. I'll bet you can find lots just by googling bearded iris then names related to Star Trek. Have fun hunting!

Just got a message that the puny rhizome (pathetic little thing) - is being replaced.
I'm not going to give out the seller's name unless the replacement is unsatisfactory.
Remarkably, this is a seller with over 2000 positive feedbacks - 100% ! (Maybe she was having a bad day.)

Anyway - I may pot this little orphan rhizome up. I'm feeling sorry for it.

Jan -- Feedback doesn't mean squat for Ebay Iris sellers. Feedback is given at the point of sale -- prompt shipping being the basis of most good feedback, and healthy appearing rhizomes. It takes a year or two for the proof that you did business with an honest Ebayer -- when the Iris blooms. I got taken for sixty or seventy dollars on an Ebay Iris purchase several years ago. When the rhizomes finally bloomed, two years after purchase, they were all common ditch Iris -- she advertised named varieties. And she had as fine a Feedback record as you could possibly have. And FWIW -- Ebay won't do a thing about this type of scamming -- they don't keep records for longer than 90 days (I think that's the right time-frame) -- WAYYYY less than the two years required to verify an honest sale. The only Ebayers that I will do business with now for Irises, are the ones that have a legitimate website as well.

The same risk applies to daylilies, or any other plant that takes time to settle in and bloom.

Mary Ann - I think of your warning whenever I surf the irises on ebay. It's a mixed bag shopping there, I know,
and it's also kind of risky shopping for irises this time of year! (yes, I'm ready for the looney bin!). But
the ebay Rio Rojo rhizome was the most impressive one of the year - from anywhere - and the ebay Rustler the worst!
(I'm done now. Back to the padded cell. Blinking )

I've been keeping notes on purchases in my plant list, if people want to see my recommendations, vis a vis the health of the rhizome.

Also, I don't think it's fair to "tar with the same brush" all the legitimate sellers as well as those that aren't.

Just did some weeding in the garden before the next rains, promised next week. Everything is looking great!

No problem, Mary Ann - if I'd been burned for $60 (or $80?) from an unscrupulous ebay seller, I'd
be warning everyone too!
It's just that I've even had a few disappointments from well-known iris dealers - so there's always a bit
of risk. I just scream loudly when I think I've been robbed! Angry

One of my greatest failings, when choosing which irises I MUST have, is looking closely at an individual flower, falling in love with it and then buying it. I have to remind myself that this little bloom may look muddy from 10 feet away or even almost disappear across the garden. Sometimes a plainer bloom, if the bloom is small, would be the best choice. It would help me when you grow clumps of irises, especially the little guys, to take photos of them from a distance and post on this site. Even a gorgeous multicolored tiny bloom can look like brown leaves from a short distance away. I cant say I would not purchase it but it would help me to know where to plant it or where it should rank on my wish list.
