The only thing is Denise Stewarts SDB seedling--white, yellow spot, blue beards. She will be introducing it next spring. I am keeping a tight rein on new stuff. You younger blokes can expand the collections.

A long time ago I was assisting back stage at a jig dancing contest. The dancers were senior adults. I was mid forties and had been feeling it. I pinned a big white square with a number on it to the back of a gentleman's shirt and he turned to look at me and said 'thanks girlie' it felt soooo good to be called girly. Later I found out he was mid 70's. oh, well.....

Rhizomes in November! You've got it bad Jan Hilarious!

Arlyn, I really like 'Malaguena'.. I'm kind of an Iris omnivore... I like them all!! Each era tells it's own story.
'Apache Ruffles', I think reads more orange because of the beard. I like it too Smiling

Yes, it's November, but the forecast is for mild weather, and we've had a fair amount of rain here
in N.CA. I kind of panicked when I realized that I didn't have many red irises. Didn't want to have to wait another whole season.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Rolling my eyes.

Mary Ann, that's one rhizome.

It's been warm here too Jan. My later additions have been much slower to root than the ones I got in July and August. There are a few I'd like to plant, but they just don't have enough root system yet.. and with upwards of 175 in pots, I don't dare order anything else this year. I did get 3 in the ground today, however... Hurray!

I don't think anything would root here now, we're having a 3 day streach of no temps above freezing later next week, and snow on Monday.

wow, Tom. I have not had a first frost yet. sunflowers, marigolds, lantana and mums going strong. I expect that to change next week if the weather guessers get it right. But I hope we don't go into winter for a bit yet. I can still work outdoors in my shirt sleeves if I don't start too early.

The trees are all bare now, the hard winds we had yesterday took the last of the reluctant leaves off them. All that remains in the veggie garden is a few beets, some rutabegas, and brussel sprouts. Everything else has been cleared out and waits for the snow to cover it. The iris leaves are bent over from frost and growth has been suspended for the winter. One remaining petunia is still blooming as it's in a protected area near the house, but that too will succumb to the cold soon. Ah, the sleeping depths of winter is near. Sighing!

I forgot to add Dipped in Dots on my iris wish list. Does anyone grow this one and is it easy to grow?
