I just saw an absolutely stunning orange iris on the Iris Lovers Facebook page. I can't attach a link, so here it the best I could find (the database photos don't do justice to this flower)

http://rockytopgardens.com/Roc...

Richard and Roger at Superstition Gardens commented that for them this iris grew very very short. It might be a local thing...maybe the heat? I'm tempted to give it a try anyway because it is so beautiful!!

If you are on facebook be sure to check this one!

Finally getting cold in Iowa just a couple more days of good weather then we drop into the 30's for highs not ready for what comes after Thumbs down But I suppose we got lucky just had the 1st killing frost here 3 weeks later than are usual here so the good weather gave me some time to get caught up on the yard work and get plant's ready for winter. I am enjoying you guys wish lists and pictures keep them coming !!

Patchwork Puzzle is special have not seen anything like it anywhere very unique has been a excellent grower and always one of the last to bloom here Highly recommended.

Jazz Pizzaz is wonderful also !! I ordered it this year after seeing it in California beautiful color to it and really stood out at Napa Gardens now if I can just keep that color and add some bubble ruffles to it Big Grin

Here are some from this spring that I really liked

Peach Pearl & Prince Of Hearts

Tuscan Summer (was Awesome in Schreiner's Fields it did well here until last winter) & Don't Stop Believing ( another late bloomer and the beard is what stands out on this one)

'Edgefield Glow' has been a good orange for me.

'Orange Harvest' is a rebloomer I've been considering.. IB 'California Style' is one that interests me too.. hmmmm...'Pumpkin Cheesecake' too...

I'm stopping now Hilarious!

I got Don't Stop Believing last year, but it didn't bloom this summer. It's growing into a nice clump so it should bloom next spring. Can't wait to see it. I got House Arrest and Flaming Lava this summer, so maybe will see them next spring. I really like Tuscan Summer and I can't understand why I never seem to get it ordered. Guess I better do that next year. Sure makes a great looking clump. I'm liking the form on Peach Pearl! Very nice pictures Brad, thanks for sharing them. Smiling

Marilyn, those are both stunners! They've both make me think of Thomas Kinkade paintings.

Sherry, sounds like you also have a fondness for that "lit from within" look! Rainbow High, Sordid Lives, Engagement Ring- great!, and Expose is over the top gorgeous!

Twilight Of the Gods is a very nice orange too that I missed out on last year. It's on my list for next summer though.

This first one (Apache Ruffles) is one that looks 'orange " to me, but I suppose most would say it's more 'champagne" in color;

This next one , Malaguena, (Ghio "85), is getting a little "long in the tooth" for most of you, but, it IS a nice orangs, and, in areas with 'less winter" than here, it's a re bloomer:

Brad - your pictures are going to put me in the poorhouse! I see them and then want to buy!!!

Sherry - the only one I can vouch for on your list is Montmartre. It has bloomed every year for me, and has been a good grower. I moved it this summer and it has lots of new increases so I expect it to keep doing well.

I had no oranges except Tanzanian Tangerine (a good grower/bloomer), so this year I got a few, some as bonuses. As for "long in the tooth" as Arlyn put it, I am finding that many of the older varieties grow much better for me than the new. Example is Anything Goes which is really "going" strong vs Secret Rites which just won't increase.

It's a bit like Strut Your Stuff, but more ruffles, and the color is a little different. I will be able to compare them more closely this summer.
