Great Shots Lin and Ann! I really like the wrens and birdbath shots are always great! I have had a hard time trying to find one of the Magic Halos online. Glare I did get a squirrel baffle today though. The squirrels are out of control around here! Grumbling

Okay, this is probably a dumb question but is this a Sparrow? It seems Huge compared to the others but looks like similar markings...

If it is, I don't believe I have ever seen one this big before.

Claudia, nice selection of birds you have visiting your backyard! The male cardinal is so vivid; love the little junco and oh my the Bluebird is adorable. I'd love to see the Eastern Bluebird here but I've only spotted one once and that was quite a few years ago.

Glen, those have got to be the prettiest Gulls I've ever seen!

Cat, I think y'all have quite a few different types of sparrows in Indiana but that larger bird may be a female Red-winged Blackbird. We get quite a few Red-winged BB's here from winter until about May and the female looks totally different than the male. This is a photo of a female from earlier this year:

Wow Lin I had no idea the females look so different. Will try to do a little research and see if I can figure out if that is what it is. Thank You!

Sparrows are a little small 4.5 inches to @ 5.5 inches whereas the Red-winged Blackbird are @ 7 or 8 inches in length.

Goodness, I didn't notice this double up of the ibises. Apologies.

I have replaced it with this Willy Wagtail. It is a much loved and confiding flycatcher and not a true wagtail. They were not very cooperative today and spent much of their time chasing each other.

The boffins tried to change its name to Black-and white Flycatcher in the 70s to be scientifically accurate with common names but no one cooperated. Cat, I hope you still want to give this posting a thumbs up.

This shows our second common species of ibis, the Straw-necked Ibis. It is nearly as common as the Australian White Ibis, which is also in the photograph. Even so, it has not developed the aggressive behaviour of the white one at residences but more spectacularly at outdoor restaurants and parks where they can be fearless. I remember one experience where I watched a diner get up and go indoors to get a serviette; her plates of food just went up in the air and the table went flying when three ibis landed on her setting grabbing food.

Those Straw-necked Ibises look to be pretty large birds, much larger than the Ibises we see here in Florida.

Striking birds. Apparently they are striking in more ways than one. Sticking tongue out
They do look "beefy".
