Smiling Sandi! I just wish my own cabin fever would cause my inside pacing to perform such a productive function. Sadly, I just love to eat, not cook. It's nice today and I've been out, but by shortly after noon tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 20s. I'm looking forward to the weekend and hope the forecasters have that forecast right.

The extended forecast has this week as the last freezing weather for this year. It sure would be nice if that is correct, but I am not holding my breath. I was thinking that maybe I could start some seeds directly in the garden next week and have them under 2 twenty gallon aquariums for a mini green house. I had started some seeds inside two weeks ago and woke up to a crashing sound yesterday morning. I ran into the spare room to find my two 9 foot tall plumerias had fallen on my seed trays. They were fine and the seed trays would have been fine if one of my lovely cats had not tried to use it as a litter box!!! Confused Blinking Angry Grumbling

Sandi, I do not eat sugar, but your little cows sure are cute. If I made cookies I would surely eat them all. Did you buy them, or have a very tiny cookie cutter?

@needrain Thanks so much for the acorns! We will get that wintry mix Wed thru Fri. Not going to be nice until Sunday. I am truly tired of the cold rain. I know those of you in snow and sleet must think we're wimps down here.

@Esperanza those are Wilton sprinkles. I have a little grandson that lives 3 miles from us. He's here a lot, and he loves cookies and lots of different sprinkles! It's also Tuesday.... I make cookies (but no sprinkles)for the two guys that pick up our garbage on Tuesday afternoons. Have for a long time. In the summer, it might be ice cream and cookies. Our street is the last in the subdivision for pickup. They have a long trip back to the facility.

So sorry about your seedlings! I bought quite a few plants from the Akins HS FFA group a couple of weekends ago. They are in our breakfast room on the floor under the windows. It's just to miserable to put them outside. They're in 4" pots and really need to be bumped up. Maybe this weekend when the temp goes up a bit.

ahhh... so sweet of you to make the guys cookies. I think that is probably a lost art for people to give back to service providers. You never know they might like sprinkles too Sticking tongue out Sounds like your a very sweet grandma Lovey dubby My grandparents always had deserts in the house. I sure do miss them, so it is always nice to see a young child with loving grandparents.

Sandi, I was going to ask you about your fennel for the butterflies. Did you put it out already? Is it o.k. here in our area for late freezes?

I bought parsley, not fennel, to share with the butterflies. I'll have to look for fennel! I haven't grown it in a long time. It's perennial, so it should be hardy. It's the heat that gets the best of my garden in the summer. I also found tropical milkweed. I haven't put anything in the ground yet. I think I'll wait a couple of weeks. I remember a few really cold Easters hitting in past years.
I have a lot of seeds I haven't started yet. I do have good intentions. Whistling I find that buying the starters from the school is so much easier for me than fretting over tiny seedlings (that I invariably forget to water). My DH has an aversion to most vegetables.
Grandson's parental units have a lot of social functions, so we love having him here when they go out. We feel fortunate to have them so close to us.
Garbage guys have come and gone! Very appreciative.

Supposed we'll get to 26°, it's 27° tonight! Where is spring, anyway? This weather isn't normal at all...it should be warmer! And my hands are stiff, must go back to get under an electric blanket!

Below freezing overnight one more time, then the 10 day forecast isn't showing any more freezing temps, just mild temperatures. I wonder about the wind. It's the time of year when wind can spoil otherwise beautiful weather. If there's not too much wind, it's going to be really nice. I'm going to like it in any case after what late Feb and March have handed out so far.

It was around 20F here at daybreak. The hoarfrost was so heavy it looked like it had snowed again. There are still patches of sleet/snow that didn't melt yesterday and you could barely pick them out. The sun is out now, so it will all be gone soon. Some of the more cold resistant plants can get moved outside today, I think.

My pond Elephant Ears are still standing. As well as a few fingers that surround it. It may not have gotten a cold here as predicted . Or if it did, it didn't stay long. Glad i didn't fall for The Weatherman's Hype this time. It's sunny and cold today. But the rest of March looks promising for us and the plants. Winter be damned. Spring WILL arrive!

Tomorrow might be a good day to go to Lowe's. We were there Friday afternoon and all the big racks were inside the store and down a few of the aisles, all the way to the back. Some of the plants that were out in the garden center were still covered with row cloth. I don't think they would have had much traffic this weekend because of the weather. Monday is now the new day for marking things down.

I am headed to Lowe's (and Wal Mart) as well today. I need a few more 6' and 10' wire shelves for my orchids, and those additional shelves will be mounted between my trees. I already have 40' of shelving in those trees.

Yesterday's rain didn't quite live up to the weather guy's expectations, but last night it really started! It hasn't stopped, and is supposed to remain through tomorrow morning. We don't need snow for car accidents here. Slippery rain is making the morning commute like bumper cars.
@drdawg We need to have our trees trimmed, but not until the hoops come down!

That rain y'all are getting in Austin started here in Mississippi yesterday afternoon. It was light and off and on. It is supposed to get heavier today and won't clear out until Saturday. No sun till Saturday. Sticking tongue out Our rain chances are 70-100% all week long! A couple of days ago the prediction was for 3"-5". Now we are supposed to get 6"-10" total this week. Holy cow. First we freeze and now we drown! Sighing!

Well, at least it is warm rain to start the spring off to a nice wet soaking and no more ice and snow. Thanks for the heads up on Lowes. Too bad I will have my husband with me today. Glare

Sandi, that normally works like a charm, because he will stand and look at two different brands of the same color for half an hour trying to choose Rolling on the floor laughing We have some less than pleasant chores to deal with today in town though, so I will have to be sneaky another time Sighing! I'm an not sure I can trust myself in a box store right now anyways. For some reason I have petunia fever this week. I want, wait, no I need lots and lots of petunias this week Confused Not sure where that came from Blinking
