We are supposed to hit 36 tonight. The highs will be in the upper 60's tomorrow and in the 70's until the next cold front next Thursday. This has been a very mild winter to me.

Yeah, but the cold y'all are seeing tonight is probably what I had last night. Initially I wasn't supposed to have but one night! This really is only the second time the weather people have missed it so badly this winter. The weather was staying ahead of them Smiling today. By they time they could catch up with what was happening currently, the forecast needed changing again. Unfortunately this happens more in late winter when we are having longer warm spells which get broken by quick freezes. I was in good shape. I had everything in from yesterday. It all just stayed inside instead of going back out as I'd planned for some of it. The dumb lemon tree is going to bloom in the garage I guess.

O.K. I hate Texas weather sometimes, but I always hate the complete inconsistency it brings. The long range forecast has a low of 20F next Tuesday night, with 23F the following night and 31F the night after. After 83F yesterday. Things have swollen buds and new growth. Saw forsythia and daffodils blooming in town this week. Plants have been tricked as usual. Upper 20s overnight wouldn't be so bad, but 20 is too cold. I guess the coldest weather spells of the season are going to bookend what occurred in between.

Our forecast here in hot, steamy Mississippi, is 20's and teens for six of the next ten days. Fire up the heaters! Sighing!

"Winter precipitation" for the Houston area on Wednesday?! And lows near 31º?! Say it ain't so!!! The Weathermen have missed the mark quite a few times making Weather Drama here. I hope this time they are wrong, wrong, wrong. It's going to be another big job to get everything protected again. Phew!

We're going to have 38° tonight, but going up to the mid 70s again this weekend. Next Tuesday they're forecasting a "wintry mix" of 35° during the day, and 27° that night. Winter is not over here!

Historically, February is the coldest month of the year here in NE Mississippi. Now the forecast is for 20's and teen's for eight of the next ten days. Sad

The forecasters have moved it forward a day and given back about 5F on the coldest temps. I guess the sooner it gets over with, the happier I'll be. It will come whether I want it or not, but 25F for the low will be a lot better than 20F and the shorter the cold temps hang around, the better.

I'd like your post Ken, but I can't bring myself to Thumbs up information like that Thumbs down .

Like the end of summer when I'm wishing for a cool break, this is the time of year when I need to feel the warmth of the sun every day. I know it's coming and i can't wait!

Well, if it stays like it is now, there will be three warm days before it gets cold. They sure moved it forward. Coming in Sunday or Sunday night now, but at least they've removed those temps in the low 20s. Even the upper 20s are gone for my zip, but I'd bet I see that in my low spot. The current forecast will allow me to leave some more cold tolerant containers that I'd probably try and move inside for the low 20s. A LOT of containers. My back is saying 'please' and 'thank you' right now Smiling .

Unlike last winter, we've had some rain this year. Iris are up, as well as daffodils and ranunculus. None blooming yet, so I guess I'll have to cover them Tuesday night. Our front yard looks like it's been "torched." Nearly everything is dead, or looking dead, since the last freeze.

This time last year, the Kite Festival was rained out for the first time in nearly 80 (?) years. It'll be in the mid 70s this Saturday and sunny and breezy. Perfect day for kites! Then the weather gets cold and nasty for a few days. Guess we should be thankful we don't live in the northeast where we'd have to have someone shovel snow off our roof!

Looking forward to spring and being able to talk about what's growing and blooming, instead of the crazy weather! Thumbs up

Thumbs up That's for sure, Sandi. People in the Midwest, the northern-tier states, and the northeast would love to be able to complain about 20's and teens (like we do). Whistling

Yes, but they can sit on their patios in the summer without worrying about the 100° temperatures frying them!

Sandi,

Maybe you're going to get a break and not have a freeze. The forecast I looked at only indicated 33F for Tuesday night for Austin and that was the most dangerous chance. Are you high or low? That may be the difference between frost/freeze for you. If they don't change it, the rest of the 10 day forecast shows some nice weather for you. 33F is sure in the white frost zone, though. A still, clear night at those temps nearly guarantees hoar frost if there is any humidity at all.

The reports have fluctuated by the hour and source... so who knows what the actual temps are going to end up being. I will be keeping a close eye for sure. I live about 30 minutes northwest of Austin and if those temps are anywhere near freezing I will not be taking any chances.

Donald, I like hearing your weather forecasts. You are like a northern Texas sentry warning to us guys south of you that it is coming our way. I guess I will be waiting for the live oaks to tell me when spring is really here. I have never seen a live oak lie.

Sandi, my yard looks torched too, with splattering of green and some blooms. This time of year my garden does not make much sense at all. I need more ever greens. I planted some fescue seeds this fall to help with some greening up through winter, but the seeds are just now doing something, but only in random patches Grumbling Not the look I was going for.

Ken, I live in the south for a reason. Just so I can complain year round that it is either too cold or way too hot. I am starting to think that maybe I just like to complain. I will never live in an area that I will be fined for not shoveling my snow Sticking tongue out Snow is only pretty in pictures as far as I am concerned.

Audrey, I could not agree with you more. In my earlier life, I loved to snow ski and usually spent one week, twice a year, skiing in the Rockies. I loved it but was ever so happy to return home. I never, ever wanted to live up there.
