Rick, so Very Pretty! I've never seen any like that in person!

This was a gift from a neighbor earlier this year. I've been anxious to see what color. It's a gorgeous barely pink. (Potted with Coleus & Begonia 'Medora.')

The last pot that has yet to bloom has white & orange buds. ... so it looks like the pink are the most tasty to squirrels. A couple yrs ago my holiday cactus were eaten to almost nothing & I don't seem to have light pink anywhere anymore.

I really like that planted with the coleus. I never thought of mixing them in the pot with other plants. Neat idea. I mix other plants, but never cacti.

I'm waiting for the second round of blooms on my pink but the orange is giving me smiles. My new red is having adjustment issues. It's indoors for now. Anyone know how they are treated in mass greenhouses? Do I need more humidity? Heat?

Cheryl, I put mine outside once the temp stays above 55° in the spring and leave them out until the temps hit the low 50s in the fall. (It's the cold/cool temp that gets 'em blooming.) Usually, I have them in front of a window during the winter months. This year, I actually have a lighted plant shelf for them and they seem to be happy. I have the pots all sitting in a double flat, one with holes inside one without holes. Even week or so, I'll flood the tray. The plants take up what they need, and the rest provides some humidity.

I don't know if any of that would help you or not.

Thanks, Rick @RickM. My 3 stay outside all the time except for our few wintery months. I enjoy the blooms indoors So they are indoors for now. I really wanted the red one fit the holidays. But it looks crowded and may need some babying to get it flowing for next year. I just put the new red in front of the sunny window and gave it a misting for good measure. It's not getting direct light but it's getting a lot more than where it was. I'm hoping to emulate the nursery where it came from. It's just looking a little thin and weepy. It has buds on it so I'm hopeful. Right now it's consistently warmer in my home than in the greenhouse. Later, I will move them all out there.

Just gave the new Red a super soak. It seems to have perked up. IDK what kind of rotten soil they plant these guys in but it's not good! I will be transplanting this little thing sooner than later. Thumbs up ETA I removed the name tag. It's a NOID but further reading it says, "propogating prohibited" ? Whaaaaat?? Yeah. right!

I simply love those 'propagating prohibited' plants! That's usually the first thing I try to do with any new plant. Smiling

It's probably in a peat-based mix. They get watered before they leave the nursery and never again until someone buys them. It amazes me how much money a retailer is willing to waste by not doing something as simple as watering their plants. Sure, it can take a full day, depending on how much stock they have, but people are way more willing to drop $20 or more for a healthy looking plant. Of course, what really gets me is they let the plants literally die of thirst but still want full price for them. Otherwise they just toss 'em in the bin and write it off. Personally, I'd rather mark them down and move them. It's not as much as a write off, but it does wonders for customer relations.

Then again, this is also true of supermarkets that want $2.50 each for a table full of rotting avocados. If they would be reasonable with their prices, they would move a whole lot more merchandise. Sighing!

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
RickM--
I am with you on the leaving them outside/bringing them in time-frames.
Works for me!
Mine spend the summer up against my house under my high patio roof.
No direct sun--as the maples shade any that that would pass by.
Outside--I turn the hose on them if I am watering anything else--but more gently.
Up until now--i was trying not to over water them. Now--from this discussion--
It seems that that was wrong.
I will water them more often--I promise... Perhaps--doing the bottom watering and
letting them suck it up.

Now--as the color of the Orange CC..I will post what MY orange looked like back in 2014.
Granted--light and cameras can make a difference.

Here is my Orange taken in 2014. . It still blooms for me now..

This was taken just last month (Nov. 2016). As you can see--it is still holding
the bright orange color.

I picked up two orange ones last week. (Shhhhh! Don't tell Larry! Whistling ) They are very similar in color to your 2014 pic.

I really prefer to do the bottom watering where possible. Watering from the top isn't a problem outside as the 'extra' just ends up on the ground. Inside though, it has a really high probability of ending up in the carpet or the hardwood floor. I'm still trying to teach Larry that watering the plants doesn't mean everyone gets a gallon! I nearly lost my orchids when I found them sitting in an inch of water. He's not allowed to touch them anymore. Rolling on the floor laughing

This is my Thanksgiving cactus 'Malissa'. It is 4 years old and stays outside all the time. I did cover it last night since it dipped down to 31 degrees. I have white, red and pink. This white one is always the first to bloom, but even it is a little late this year. I noticed that there is more pink in the blooms than in years past. Not sure why. The red and pink ones have some buds but none are open yet.

Yes, the fact that MY Texas air stays above freezing most of the winter does make it possible for them to stay outside. I do have a special frost blanket for plants that I use if a freeze is forecast. I consider a nice winter the pay off for those 100 degree summer days!

Some greenhouse blooms. Some of these plants were in the house but ants found them, so it's CROWDED in GH now. I'm so sick of ants, I could just scream!

A third soak to the new Red brought it back to life, finally. I really hate that peat mix they grow it in! Truth be told, it was the only red one left and it looked so sad I felt sorry for it. I should have asked for a discount! I might have time to repot it today. We'll see. I've lost some of the buds but a few hung on and are moist. I will have to baby this one along to get a good show next year.

Glad it responded to your TLC. My red one is not doing well at all. It has a few red blooms, but most of the leaves are red too and don't look very healthy. I googled, but didn't really find a good explanation. I'll repot after it blooms and see if that helps. I don't think it is draining as well as it should.
