Hang on, all your folks in NJ. Sounds like Irene is going to raise havoc. I worry about our lovely tulip poplar, planted by us just behind the house. It is mighty close & has lost its top at least once. It has grown it again but they are very brittle trees.
I'm very worried about the huge willow which was supposed to be pollarded this week. I left a message begging for tomorrow. But you know I am not the only one begging him.
yes hope all are safe Lucy my house is surrounded by tulip trees.. they terrify me .. all massive too.. I get saplings every year I can send you.. no worries.. they are weeds here.. I would have taken a few more down.. by they are on my neighbors property.. and lets say.. he is not a nice man.. they are so weak and just waiting for a weekend like this.. UGH
We also get tulip saplings, many where they have to be cut as way in the wrong place. Last 'cone' was seen in the middle of a wooden porch. It better not root there!!!!!!!!!!
I pluck and cut many every year.. the one that was in our yard that we took down.. was rotted in the middle.. soooooo glad we did .. we took down 4 more on the side of the house... and uphill from it.. before they got too big
