but, as I said, they'll probably be released next spring unless AIS changes its routine.
I'd be surprised if it's considered to be a very exciting moment for the average gardener, though? Many (most?) of the irises registered in 2014 are already in commerce. Most of the rest will be introduced in 2015 and you'll be able to see pictures of them in the catalogs coming out later this winter.
We need the registry information because we want the information in the ATP Iris Database to match the registry as closely as possible (with the exception that we include some extra information that isn't normally found in the registry). We don't use information from catalogs because there's often substantial differences between what's written in them versus what's written in the registry. I assume this is mostly because space is precious in a catalog, but also because the purpose of a catalog is rather different than the purpose of the registry.
