Glorious colors on an overcast and slightly damp Sunday. Smiling

Today, I want Santa to bring me Juan Valdez. Not only does it have wonderful colors, but I actually received a framed "THE JUAN VALDEZ AWARD" from a place I worked at too long ago to want to remember. My boss at that time drank so much coffee he might actually have considered a caffeine I.V. to keep a non-stop intake going! I was his enabler, hence the more than slightly tongue-in-cheek recognition at a company party one year. Big Grin

Juan Valdez

Can't add very much until AIS releases the 2014 registrations which, if they follow recent patterns, will be around April or May next year.

I might not be understanding the question Confused but, as I said, they'll probably be released next spring unless AIS changes its routine. Shrug!

I'd be surprised if it's considered to be a very exciting moment for the average gardener, though? Many (most?) of the irises registered in 2014 are already in commerce. Most of the rest will be introduced in 2015 and you'll be able to see pictures of them in the catalogs coming out later this winter.

We need the registry information because we want the information in the ATP Iris Database to match the registry as closely as possible (with the exception that we include some extra information that isn't normally found in the registry). We don't use information from catalogs because there's often substantial differences between what's written in them versus what's written in the registry. I assume this is mostly because space is precious in a catalog, but also because the purpose of a catalog is rather different than the purpose of the registry.

My bad, Kent... Not being familiar with all the inner workings of the AIS, I was thinking you meant that those introduced by growers in 2015 would be registered w/ AIS first, and that list/information would be published. I see where you were going now.

We usually register an iris the year before introduction. However my BB 'Hi Buddy' was registered in 2013 & will be introduced by Winterberry next spring.

I want to get back to those amazing photos Brad posted this morning. I absolutely MUST have that iris! It's stunning! I'm not usually as excited about the varigatas as I am about the more subtle colors and blended tones...but that one is amazing!!! Beautiful photos Brad!! (..as always! Big Grin ). Do you have a seedling number or any information on it's parentage?

A lot of people don't care for flat Iris, so fair notice if you don't want to look. Smiling
