Winterberry Gardens has uploaded their 2015 introductions.

I love Winterberry irises. They are also great when it comes to communicating with their customers.

The photo of BB 'Hi Buddy' is better than the one which I have. Ginny is a great photographer.

to many of them. now to wait until they aren't so expensive.

As to the cost, what I don't totally understand, is there must be as much "work" involved in the hybridization of an SDB, or IB, as in a TB.....but the "little guys" are always cheaper I guess size DOES matter .I have bought a 'couple" Median "new intros", but I just can't justify the cost on a TB. Many have said that the growers are usually VERY generous with bonus plants, when you buy a new intro....and I guess, depending on how you want to "figure" it, that brings the "price per iris" down. On the other hand, a person MAY not want iris that they didn't actually order....wrong "color scheme", already have it, whatever.

Arlyn - I have noticed the dwarf intros are cheaper than the TB's, but after they have been out awhile, they are often sold on sites for as much or more than the TB's. Go figure.
$50 a pop is rich for my blood. I need a few more years of seeing that the iris I already have are surviving before I risk getting an expensive new intro. I would be devastated to lose it.

All that being said, Winterberry has an awful lot of SDB's that I want. Oh my.

Lucy, do I see a hint of dark pink wayyy down in the center of that photograph?

It is blue tint, not very heavy. Probably more in some soils. it's pod parent is blue violet.

I don't find Hi Buddy! It's not listed among the BB's.

Look for it in 2015 introductions. It is pretty.

A white one, and so nicely formed.

Name comes from the fact that it had 7 buds the first year of bloom. Unusual for a seedling. Blue violet pod parent, yellow pollen parent. thank you all for thinking of trying it. Not full of ruffles for those who like ruffles. In the new intros. It is about 24" tall.
