Lucy - I think the Rocky Top catalog would be very good reading indeed!

I don't do too much with tall bearded, becoming less as we cut back the garden. However I order for the club auction & we have had great luck with plants from Rocky Top.

I see a lot about PNW sale. What is that? Is it an iris society in the Pacific Northwest or some online thing? New to all of this........
And YES, Burgards has great prices and I was able to get some good ones that were on my must-have list for low prices. Catherine is very nice to work with.
This forum alone may have Burgards selling out quickly!

Jane, PNW is Pacific Northwest and is specific kind of Iris native to the area.

Problem with the PNW sale is that it's too late for planting here. Then again, maybe that's a good thing. Rolling on the floor laughing

Janie -- the Pacific Northwest Iris Society (or Club) has a fund-raising event every year in the early fall. Many of the hybridizers and Iris retailers contribute rhizomes to the club -- which has a real time sales event/auction in Oregon. Whatever doesn't sell at that sale is organized for an online sale hosted by the club. The sale is conducted through Cubits -- and a week or so before the event, they put a list online of all the Irises that are available. They are priced at $3.00 each -- which makes some of them amazing values. The sale is held in four events, two events one day and two the next -- to give everyone in every time zone a crack at the bargains. Half of the Irises are sold on day 1 -- half on day 2. Orders are only accepted at a specified time of the day -- once in the morning, once in the evening -- and It's a mad scramble on sale days to get your order placed early in order to get the Irises that you want. Everybody looks forward to it, even if you're not participating -- to see what's available and how quickly things sell out!!

Last year I got a couple of Schreiner's introductions for $3.00 each. Retail from Schreiner's was $50.00 or more!!

Thanks for that info. Keep me posted as to when it is. I suppose this forum will be abuzz when the time comes. I look at photos on Cubits but that is about all I knew about it.

Among my purchases I got three different iris at the PNW for $5 that were retailing for $50, so 1/10th the cost. It was great fun, and I was shocked when I got mine and saw they sent bonus iris as well!!
