Ha Lynn I just realized I said "STUNNUNG" (that'll teach me not to use the doggone phone to make posts). I wish I could get that variety here. We are so limited Sad

Very pretty Lynn!

Yesterday while I was at work our neighbor texted me a picture of 6 wild turkeys running around our yard and one was in one of my raised semp beds! Grumbling Grumbling When I got home we were in the middle of a snowstorm so I didn't get a chance to go out and check for damage.

LOL!!! The neighbors have 2 dogs and he let them out (in their own fenced in back yard) and they barked and scared the turkeys away. I'm hoping they were just passing through also. They used to hang out in the huge field behind our house and not bother anybody. But they recently built a hospital back there and destroyed their habitat. Guess I'm paying the consequences.

That's a beauty Patti I hope you win the auction . I looked it up in the ATP database and found Purple Passion, I wonder if it's the same semp .
I just discovered two semps Jungle Fire and Jungle Fires on a German site , www.sempervivum.de . I'll be ordering from them soon, they have a fabulous stock of semps .

Jungle Fires is Jungle Fire, someone just dropped the s and it has been perpetuated as an error. It is my semp created during my 20's and is still a nice plant.

Patti, I have made so many spelling errors in my posts, and I can't blame it on posting from a phone. Rolling on the floor laughing
We are very good a interpreting spelling errors. Green Grin!
Glad you like the rollers. Maybe you can find some to add to your garden?
That crested 'Purple Passion' is wonderful. I see Chris has one also.

Chris I'm keeping my fingers crossed that those turkeys were just passing thru.

Paddy, This information is not correct
'Jungle Fires' by Kevin Vaughn was introduced in 1975, 'Jungle Fire' by Shirley Rempel was introduced in 1974. Both are from the U.S.
Are you getting them from Erwin Geiger? He has such a wonderful collection.

See Kevin's post below for an explanation.

@JungleShadows Kevin it looks like we crossed posted. Is the information I posted in my above post not correct?

No Lynn, the Shirley Rempel thing is a TOTAL MISTAKE. She dropped the s in her catalog. It is the same semp or at least it should be! Also Shirley Rempel didn't even have a catalog until '81!! Erwin is correcting this in the German data base too.

Just got home and found your post Kevin. I left my above post with an explanation. See if that works for everyone.
I also went to the entry in the database for 'Jungle Fires' and added Also Sold As: Jungle Fire. That way if some one is looking it up as Jungle Fire they will be sent to the correct entry.

Lynn,

Yes that's better although 'Jungle Fires' wasn't actually introduced until 1975. It was named before that but not sold in Helen's catalog until then. Most groups use the date a plant was introduced to the market rather than named as the correct year, although the daylily society has now gone back to year of naming.

Thanks Lynn. It is wrong in the list in Slovenia and that may be the source of all of the confusion. I wrote them 3 years ago but it's still wrong. Peter and Erwin have been correcting the German list too as the errors get perpetuated after wrong information is posted. Luckily I've been doing this since '64 so I was there when all of this happened! I feel like Father Time of the semp world!
