This one is Echeveria 'Sleepy'...love that name Hilarious!

But certainly sleepy no more...Sleepy getting taller, I guess wants more sun, the spot it is on gets more part shade, but during winter, when the city trees are dormant, it gets more sun later..it seems happy, making new new offsets too:

Photo last 26April2014 when I first got it.

My three echeveria elegans cuttings, had to rescue and cut them off in early Dec due to our heavy rains then.

Really nice recovery, for these three musketeers..teaching me as always keep them dry and that rotting part will callus eventually and be sealed off by the plant, new roots will grow. I still have not planted them..so far cutting staying alright, as long as kept dry.

Good job on the rescue and on showing us that there's hope for these favorite plants when we think we may lose them. Green Grin!

I feel like my ocd has made me water and care for my plants too much. Sticking tongue out So I'm going to water them one more time then wait until I see the first signs of water stress on each plant and use that as a measuring stick as when to water them.

I'll measure the amount of days until water stress signs and then schedule each one to be watered two days before that on my garden manager app on my phone.
I want to grow them hard. That along with some bonsai techniques will keep them compact and fat. The ones that aren't fat plants will also get nice compact shapes.

In other words keep them from out growing my keep them from out growing my apartment. Green Grin!

Also I plan on adding hydrogen peroxide(it raises ph) every time I water and adjusting the ph so it's at about 6.5. and then keep a note of amounts.
When the past is forgotten it is destined to be repeated.

Uh-oh! Don't push them too hard Adam..your collection is still too young. My succulents had taught me-better to underwater them than to overwater. By the time I sense they are too overwatered, they will be on their way out, harder to reverse the condition at times.

You are thinking the opposite of what I meant by water stress.

Well, good luck..hope your technique works...always many ways for a solution. But one thing for sure..over watering..dead succulents.

I agree with Tarev. I just killed a young aloe with one time of overwatering. Rotted right out.

The hydrogen peroxide method sounds cool, how are you doing it? How much do you use?

Got two new succulents yesterday, while waiting for my hubby to finish his stuff at work, I dropped by Armstrong Garden Center...
these two went home with me Big Grin

Just more photosof the two: Gasteria Marble, well that was the name on the tag..but I am still trying to really see if that is indeed the correct name: the leaves just looks so leathery thick, bonus that it is making a new bloom

The 2nd one: Titanopsis calcareum..my first time to have something like this..love the leaf markings; not sure if this is abt to bloom or done with its blooms already.

I must have Titanopsis calcareum Lovey dubby That is such an awesome looking plant. Going now to the website listed on side of pot. Super freaking cool. You will like your Aloe hybrid. They are super hardy. They have such strong structure. If you remove her pups she will get even larger. The type of plant everyone who sees it wants to touch.

That's so true Audrey I had to touch and feel that Gasteria, looks more artificial than live Big Grin

I am going to really watch how I grow this Titanopsis, being a mimicry plant....hopefully it is not as finicky like Split rock or Lithops.

Every time I am near my gaster I touch it. So does anyone else when seeing her for the first time. Wish mine had that red color that yours does.

After some research on the Titanopsis , I am going to tip toe back out of that comment about having to have one. Sure is pretty though. I love those spots. I did find some seeds for cheap on ebay. I might try them out someday.

I sure am glad we do not have so much temptation in our garden centers. Look at the size of those living rocks. Holey Moley! I have never seen any so plump and pretty as those. No wonder you came home with goodies.

Has anyone seen the pic on ebay for mixed seeds and that one that is a neon blue? What is that? They call that sale "Succulent Plant Seeds 60 Rare Perennial Sedum Mixed Seeds Radiation Protection"

I'm a web and graphic designer, and that picture on Ebay is Photoshopped! I won't go into the boring technical details but I'm 100% positive every single picture in that first slide is altered.

I bought a Titanopsis calcarea....a WHILE ago. I got really frustrated with it because it did absolutely nothing. Seemed like it was shrinking even. It was baking out back in the Florida sun in a pot with a lithops and a litttle round cactus. I read they are a "calcicole"...a plant that thrives in alkaline, calcium rich soils...So, I plopped him in a row of Sansevierias that are growing in crushed shell. There's your calcium, little guy, now do something!!!

He doubled in size and bloomed! Bloomed over and over..here's two pics I took last week...new bloom developing. Always pinkish to start, then opens up to a yellow flower.

I'm giving away some of my tree aloes because they get too large to keep in an apartment and I ordered a new plant that stays smaller Pseudobombax ellipticum. It's such a cool looking caudiciform with green bark with green lines running through it. Green Grin!

Also I'm growing some Titanopsis from seeds.

Pseudobombax ellipticum is a tree, Adam... we have several at our Botanical Garden. I don't doubt you could Bonsai it but it is not a compact plant...

Pseudobombax ellipticum can be kept as a caudiciform if constantly pruned backed and not allowed to grow into a tree.
