Thanks Celia. The vet says she doubts either Mulder or Scully will live to be very old because of their congenital condition, but a few more years with Mulder would be nice.

Some things just don't seem fair. Sometimes feral cats are kind of inbred, and often the mother doesn't get good nutrition during gestation and that can bring on lots of issues. Hope he responds to the fluids and diet and comes around for you. Group hug

That's so sad, Leslie! I really hope Mulder pulls through for you. The feral cats here in France rarely live more than 2 or 3 years; there were 6 kittens this spring, none of which has survived to now. Crying On the other hand, there are two ferals that are now 7 or 8 years old. They are all true ferals, so I can't get near them - one of them lets me stroke her very gently but only at dusk (no idea why dusk). But I've also had cats in England that lived for several years after they got kidney failure - on a mixture of meds and special diet - so I really, really, hope that little Mulder (and Scully) do well. One thing for sure - without you, they wouldn't be alive today. Group hug

I noticed the rain on the radar and wondered who would be getting some. Looked like a lot of the Northern part of the state got some.

I wish we would get rain. It sure would help the firefighters in our mountains. Since Hurricane Matthew we have had only one real rain. Guess we needed to be reminded of what the west has been going through.

Leslie, praying you get some rain very soon! Those firefighters could use some help from Mother Nature.
The 10 day forecast shows eight days of rain coming.

We may get some rain on Thanksgiving morning. That is all we have forecast at the moment. The mountains may get more though.

We had a visit from a bear last night. I knew we shouldn't have put chicken bones in the trash!

Everyone OK? Did you get any photos? How exciting! The closest I have ever been is seeing some footprints in the snow at Lake Louise...

Hope the bear didn't make too much of a mess Jan. And how do you handle bones and such if they can't go in the trash?

We've decided to dump the bones far from the house on one of the trails, so hungry critters can have them. Let me emphasize. far from the house ! We're on 78 acres, so it makes sense that we 'd have lots of wildlife. It's like a big wildlife park - and as long as we're alive, and able to pay the taxes, it will remain wild. I'd like to think the citified kids will want to live here some day.

Still, there was a lot of barking that went on last night - the dogs went ballistic. Their beds are in the laundry room which are closest to the trash cans. And, Chris got a good look at the bear, who was big.

Where I grew up, we could cross a hay field headed North, and once we got across the hay field, we'd enter a woodland. We could travel 40 miles north and never cross a fence or a road. You could dip the water out of the streams and lakes and drink it and not worry about anything toxic. Smiling
