Probably.
She was most likely wearing them for one of those "re-enactment" vignette things she used to do.
Supposedly she always gardened barefoot, too. With all the geese and ducks she had, she had to have been nuts to do that.

I wonder if she ate mayonaise or brussel sprouts.

Well, the one thng I do remember about Tasha Tudor..she had her nephew or great nephew (or someone) helping her in the garden and he was clearing the paths and when he mentioned all of the seedlings, she asked him where he 'put' them..because each was to be planted elsewhere, not 'weeded'. I'm sure she ate mayo and Brussels sprouts, each in their place..lol.

Mike, you are the only person I've encountered who does not like olive oil...tell me how you feel about fried eggplant...lol.

Bex, I tried the tinkyada fettuccine noodles last night and those I was not happy with...they did clump. I'd made cacciatore and we usually have spaghetti with that also. It's possible that the noodles would work in another use, I'd thought of doing tetrazzini with them, but wasn't sure how they would be with baking. Perhaps will not try them again in any use. Like the lasagna noodles, not the fettuccine and will try the small shells today for pasta salad and pick up the spaghetti ones today to try. When I make spaghetti, I make pasta for Jer, but have fried eggplant wth the spaghetti sauce for myself....he has both. Love fried eggplant. Wish I were there to go to Brookings also. I would eat pie. I did bring home some of the GF piecrust mix this week. Silly, I have the ingreds to make my own....and a really great GF cookbook with every cake, bread, cookie, etc. possible and I fully intend to start doing some baking. Need to pick up some non-stick pans this a.m. as that is something I didn't use before.

Mike, I wouldn't eat those fish either. We pretty much eat no fish now.

Sherry & Rebecca, have you ever tried mashed sweet potato, in lieu of spaghetti? It's really tasty with spaghetti sauce. Unfortunately, it's one of the many veggies that doesn't agree with my tummy. I've also heard that spaghetti squash is good, but haven't tried it with spaghetti sauce.

Oh, love sweet potato! But with butter....sounds a bit odd with spaghetti sauce? Don't care for spaghetti sauce myself. I have high hopes ofr the shells or rotini, if tinkyada makes it, for pasta salad, really missing pasta salad. The cookbook that I LOVE is 1,000 Gluten Free Recipes. She has one formula for her flour mix and a ziilion baked things to do with it. Picked up new pans this a.m.....

Today is the 'coolest day of the week' and it's so pleasant. Overcast for quite awhile this a.m. and now the afternoon has a nice cool brreze. It's odd, but here we are only in the end of July and I feel a hint of Indian Summer. I almost expect to smell some woodsmoke and the quality of the light has changed just a bit. I noticed this morning that on the south facing windowsill, there's just a thin line of of sun shining on the sill. The sun is already starting to angle down just a tad.

I should be hoping not to smell smoke. It's still burning out by Warner Springs. When I'd checked last night, over 12,500 acres have burned and that so far a cost of 6 mil. That's 6 mil the state really doesn't have.

Thinking of Fall already...it doesn't take much for me to start looking forward to Fall...lol....and hoping I get some pumpkins. Mind you, my plants are not very large, and I started late, but there's maybe hope...

Well I made it home. I had tomato stuffed with tuna salad, oh it was good. Then a man near me had kahlua pie and was making happy noises, he said it was very good. But the last time I went I had coconut pie and it was not as good as the banana so I went with the banana and it was really good. Mishka went and she had a salad she picked at then she had cherry pie with whipped cream and ate most of it which surprised me.

Mishka really liked Marge, who is 92. She finally asked her if she had any toys so Marge found a bag of toys, plastic cars and boats. Mishka looked at them and told her "These toys are for really small kids, I am like 8 and way too old to play with them. But thank you anyway". We went to Fred Meyers where she found personal sized watermelons on sale and got 3 of them so she can invite her mom and boyfriend for watermelons.

It was really hot in Brookings 87 degrees, it was 78 here, hot enough for me. My plants are all dried up for me being gone for the day so I will be watering to revive them tomorrow.

But the pie was really really good.

It's strange. I was thinking over the last few days that the weather seems to be moving to Fall already. I can tell when I notice that it's much much cooler in the shade. Hot in sunlight be much cooler in shade. And, by that I mean, "seems like 89 degrees" but really is 105 degrees.

Exactly...the change is subtle but it's there if you're tuned to it. I always seem to get a sort of wistful lethargy that comes with this subtle change of season. Pie of <I.any</I> sort sounds good right now...pumpkin, cherry, pecan, banana, lemon meringue. I'll try the GF pierust tomorrow and make pumpkin pie. Maybe it's the whole weather thing making me want to bake....or maybe I'm just very tired of working outside and watering. Maybe I'm just whiney...lol..

How bizarre...the rest of the post disappeared...lol. What I was saying was that pie of any sort sounds good right now....pumpkin, cherry, pecan, lemon meringue, banana...yum. I'm definitely baking tomorrow.. Maybe it's the weather making me want to bake, or maybe I'm just really tired of working outside and watering.

Well my pie was good and I am glad that place is far enough away that I don't go often. And the whipped cream, not from a can, real stuff and lots of it. I could not eat the crust but it sure looked good.

Lanny has gone fishing for 3 days, my house is quiet and the tv has DIED. The dogs are depressed because he is always on the couch with them, maybe they miss the tv as well.

The fair opens today and I probably will have to take Mishka which I really don't want to do because I am already tired and have lots of work but I take her each year and this year they have a bird show, she has been jabbering about it for weeks. And today is the only day I can do it as I am open over the weekend. Her mom has to work so cannot go. I will probably go and I will probably have a good time in spite of my negative attitude.

I got some lottery scratch off tickets so will see if I will be a rich person. So far, that has not worked so well for me but every once in awhile I get a few tickets in case, just in case.

Apple pie does sound good, actually I have been thinking that I should have gotten the pumpkin pie, I LOVE pumpkin pie, more when it is made from squash than pumpkin, but hey, either will do.

Pumpkin pie is our default position...and I will make one today...as soon as I've picked green beans and watered...sigh.
Did you make that pie, Sue? Yum....
Bex, you never did mention if Mishka had anything good to say about camp.....I can't believe that it's 'Fair' time again already.

I keep saying that I will buy one lottery ticket per week. I never win anything, so don't have high expectations, but.....if they sold them while I was in line paying for groceries, then I would by one. Buying lottery tickets is somehow out of my normal routine and I don't think of it.

I see that Annmarie decided to go zip lining.....lol..how high off the ground was that?

Mishka hated camp. They had nature hikes but she didn't get to go. They had bug collecting but she didn't get to. They had disgusting food and it was frozen dinner type things. I don't know why she didn't get to go. Could be she was too shy and did not speak up or could be that she was just missed, we will never know. Other than that, she said she guessed it was fun. She made some new friends and like the ride on the bus.

Old friend called me on the phone and we talked for awhile. Now I am going to hit the shower so have no idea if I am a rich woman from my lotto tickets or not. Actually I do have a pretty good idea, just not 100% sure yet. They do sell them at the local grocery store and I would hate to mess with fate if I am met to win, by not buying a ticket now and again.

Make that pie, Sherry. I have wanted to make a pie using coconut oil, I bet it would make a nice crust, not so sure if the flours would be so tasty. I was thinking of cheesecake made with some gluten free cookie crumbs, oh, perhaps a pumpkin pie made with gluten free ginger snaps....and lots of whipped cream....
