Same for me, Zuzu, I love this badge! I still have the old philodendron that went through college with me. It's survived much better than I have. Smiling

LOL, Many of the microbadges don't pertain to me but I added them to my list just because I thought they were so cute. I got to wondering how many microbadges I own and quickly counted 66 ... one more and it'll match my age. Green Grin!

I love that image! You must have crafted it dot by dot.

But I could only own it if you had a version where the plants were clearly dying.

I just saw this. Yay, Chillybean! Now I have to go check it out! My houseplants are taking over my house, so this microbadge is definitely a consideration (I'm kind of picky about my badges...I like a 'cleaner' look on my posts, but houseplants....that's such a good idea!)

Hilarious! Now don't say that, I see a very pretty face in that avatar of yours! Big Grin If it's 'survived much better than [you] have', it must be winning awards left and right. Sticking tongue out

I think you're much better with them than you let on.

Actually I seldom try indoors unless I'm starting trays of seedlings.

And when I did try to keep some aging seedlings going in quart pots in front of a South-facing window in the early Spring, they only got sun very briefly each day (during which they kind of cooked).

But years ago when I did try a few indoor plants, I discovered that they expected to be watered regularly. What a great deal of unwarranted faith they had in my reliability at that age! How sad their disappointment.

(LIGHTBULB!)

Maybe that's why, now, I can't stop over-watering seedlings. The ghosts of past, dried-up houseplants haunt me subconsciously so that I'm compelled to water them every time I walk past.

Thank you, Rick for the nice words and DnD for the acorn! It wasn't too hard to make, but I did learn when you only have 32x32 pixels to work with, too many details do not show up well (at least with what I tried) and I played around with the flowers colors until something stood out.

You need a Plant of Steel (Sago Palm I just bought), Rick. It says one cup of water every two weeks. I think that's about what I give all my other plants based on how often I water them. Then I give some leftover coffee as fertilizer the rare times I have that. I am remembering to mist my Prayer Plant daily, but I really want this one to survive, so it's on my mind and it is in a location I walk by it several times a day.

I tried to make an apartment gardening badge, something that would be unique to them. One idea I had was a building with several windows, with one window being green. Didn't look right at the small size. I used to live in a ground floor apartment, no patio, so the couple of times I tried a plant, they didn't make it. I looked at their forum and was so amazed at what some people do in their small space.

Okay, so I'm late the party and still quite new here, so perhaps if nothing else I can offer fresh eyes ... and perhaps a new notion that isn't totally lame.

Even though I've been playing in the dirt for a while, every time I arrive to a new house (which happens about every 10-12 years or so), I feel like I'm on, yet once again, a steep learning curve. Consequently, it occurred to me if there were a badge for which I am most suited it would be the "steep learning curve." I'm not sure how to do a badge that would work, but I did play with a design.

Another notion I had is one for those of us who find it difficult to drive by a good nursery. Every year it seems (I've only seen three springs in this new place and the gardens all need serious attention), I'm regularly buying a couple of carloads of new plants. Truth be told, I was doing that in my last place too, even into the 12th year there. Perhaps a plant shoppers badge might prove popular. I'm thinking something on the lines of a car that is basically overloaded with new purchases, or an individual swamped by armloads of new finds, or just a big ol' plant wagon filled to capacity.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Maybe a "trial and error"badge, with just ONE healthy plant surrounded by small crosses showing the locations of all the dead plants.

I think most of us need that badge. For me it's seeds, not plants. I almost never met a seed packet I didn't want to take home.

Rick, your comment: "Maybe a "trial and error" badge, with just ONE healthy plant surrounded by small crosses showing the locations of all the dead plants" cracked me up. Smiling I'm with those who think they've killed more than the plague during the Renaissance. Actually, the deer helped with some, hot mulch with others, and then the mad scientist experimentation finished off another good lot. I'm regularly thinking, "this would really be nice to have here." Then after the failure, it's hindsight... soil, light, critters, water, whatever. Grumbling But then comes another trip to the nurseries. Yahoo. Rolling my eyes.
