Arlene,..that's a great forecast to have,..nice weather for ten days with just one of rain,..now our forecast would be the reverse of that,..today was nice though at 74F by three in the afternoon so i shouldn't complain.

The Greenhouse is a blessing,..apart from it being so close to my back door everything i put in there is thriving,..including one Cucumber and one Tomato Plant,..which i received today,..i could have accepted more but its flowers i decided on and gave up fruit and veg some time back,..one of my friends job today was to purchase six Shower Curtains from the Hardware Shop,..he also purchased a dozen Tomato Plants and some Cucumber Plants which by the time he came to my house i think he regretted as he would have gladly given me the lot Rolling on the floor laughing .
====

jmorth,..so the list expanded and expanded Hilarious! i can imagine how vast a list you could complete but wouldn't mind seeing more interesting rock,..of late i tend to pause when looking at a rock in the garden Whistling so don't bury that list too deep,..let it see some light Thumbs up
====

Debra,..so true about enjoying the good weather,..one gets sick of all that rain,..as for housework,..when stuck in the house i tend to get in to cleaning the entire house,..which i did,..then started preparing to paint the indoors,..thankfully the rain stopped Whistling maybe when the rain comes again i will start painting,..maybe Rolling my eyes.

Arlene,..the trouble about starting to paint is you will keep at it even when the weather gets good again Thumbs down

I have the step ladder in the Sitting Room along with two 10 Litre containers of paint,..i nearly started Whistling reprieve,..reprieve as i don't like painting,..only because i don't know when to stop once i start Whistling

The Robin,..i can be sure it will be in the garden every day,..its his or her territory.

The depth of colors on the robin is wonderful.

Exactly, Philip - about the painting. One room leads to another and that spells disaster for spring.

Great photos, as always. So do you ever take your boat(s) on the river? It is so scenic that I would want to spend some time enjoying it.
I took some photos of the rocks I mentioned and will post them later.

As promised, pictures of a couple of interesting rocks. When I ordered all my boulders, I chose the "field boulders," which are generally pretty mundane, but in the mix I got a few that I found rather interesting. I can identify granite (I think), but have no idea what the others are. That being said, they do serve their purpose and so the plants and I are happy with them no matter what they may contain.

The "red" - I have a few of these:

The striped granite - I have two of these that have sort of cut edges, but this is the more colorful one:

The one I find most interesting:

Arlene and Debra,..that paint and ladder is still in the Sitting Room,..i was very pleased that we had another good day Hurray! Hurray! Temps reached 70F by half past one,..if this weather keeps up the paint and ladder can go back to the shed Thumbs up
===

Thanks Arlene,..jmorth and Mike,..Debra and Jeanie for liking the pictures Thumbs up the Robin was close enough to get a good shot,..normally they are friendly and sit still but with my four cats out and about the Robin is wary,..wisely.

===

Arlene,..i do take a trip now and then for my own enjoyment,..sometimes up the Lake other times downriver but what spoils it are the times i get a call when someone has broke down and i am asked,.. will i oblige by towing them home,..mostly i oblige to people i know for a small compensate,..those i don't know must pay,..this all started as i obliged one or two,..now its a regular thing and it spoils the thought of a trip for enjoyment.
===
Jeanie,..nice rocks Thumbs up the layered ones are interesting as you eyes wander over them,..i also like the Granite with its many colors,..the red is a softer looking rock just because its a warm color,..i should say Boulders really,..all lovely additions to a garden Thumbs up many of us will envy you Blinking

@foraygardengirl
This may seem weird but rock identification is not my best field, I'm better at the level of mineral/crystal /lapidary ID. Nevertheless, I agree w/ your granite assessment. Your favorite one, I'm thinking may be sedimentary due to the aspect of it's evolution, some parts weathered away easier than the white areas which may be some quartz lens.

One of my projects this past winter was to assemble a photo gallery of named specimens; I think there's about 5 or 6 hundred pics in there now.
Here's a few -

Blue flowstone Thumb of 2016-04-19/jmorth/22d1e4 Geodes weather out of limestone where this stuff is present.

Micromount collection Thumb of 2016-04-19/jmorth/49b7a5

Where I keep track of the collection Thumb of 2016-04-19/jmorth/1e32ba Vol. 1 of 3. Thumb of 2016-04-19/jmorth/a6ab96 vol 2 of 3. The 3rd one is to the right of the 2nd one

I'll try to get some broad shots of the collection, the better to conceptualize it's actual extent within a day or two.

Originally each specimen entered into the Book had a number attached to it. 500 specimens filled the book rather quickly. Somewhere in Book 2 I changed the number assignment criteria to allow multiple entries under a single number.
The assigned number is now bestowed on when and where a rock came from. The assigned number is more like a field trip number. All the rocks from that time have the same assigned number followed by an alphabetical letter (a - z). If it's more than those 26 entries the case of the next 26 entries is capital letters (A - Z).
Most of the specimens in the collection have that number assignment on them somewhere, usually this is accomplished by a) dabbing some typing correction fluid on them; when dried, the number is written on the dry, white space. If necessary, the markings can be removed with a solvent or b) writing on specimen's exterior, which in most cases is irrelevant to the displayed portion.

example 1st method -
Thumb of 2016-04-20/jmorth/4198ba

2nd method -
Thumb of 2016-04-20/jmorth/278890 Thumb of 2016-04-20/jmorth/f402f3 (writing is on the actual rock, not correction fluid)
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

Glad your method works so well for you, Jack. Without a workable plan you'd be lost.
