I posted the pictures below in the Bird Thread,..should have copied and pasted Whistling

About two weeks ago i was nearly able to get to the bank of the river which is where those wood jetties can be seen sticking up.
Thumb of 2016-04-21/glengarry23/dfde48

Yesterday i could only get halfway down that road,..flooded meadows on the left,..canal on the right and flooded meadows beyond that.

GPS Rolling on the floor laughing about two years ago there was a birds nest in the Clematis below where Dennis is,..i only spotted it last year,..maybe Dennis is hoping a new resident moves into the nest.

Where i live,..its a very flat area for miles,.. every year come Sept/Oct its watching the level of the river time,..its unpredictable as to how high it will get,..2009 was a disaster as was this year,.. since October houses and farmland have remained flooded and in the past two weeks the water level had dropped leading us to think it will keep dropping,..it rained up North and caused the level to rise to what you see,..looks pretty with calm water and blue sky,..i like water Rolling my eyes. but not when it floods houses farmland and roads Thumbs down

Do any of the residents ever move to a safer location? On Long Island, after so much flooding with hurricane Sandy, I was surprised so many people remained where they lived.

One corner of my garden has a small dry stone wall across it,..i grow several rock loving plants in the wall like Campanula,..Oxalis,..and Alyssum,..mostly this is what one sees until my Lilies which are behind the wall in containers start to bloom,..deep in the corner is a ten foot tall Fuchsia,..just to give an idea how big the space behind the wall is,..below are some shots.

Taken yesterday.

Some do move into Town when its very bad but have to return as soon as possible due to Livestock,..the latter head for higher ground where its possible but still need to have feed,..apart from grass.

People don't like to be away from home,..no matter how bad the conditions are,..i guess the idea that being on hand one can prevent things getting worse by moving belongings above water,

Beautiful, Philip!
Did the water ever recede to normal after all the massive rains a few months ago? This must be quite difficult for everyone. Except maybe Dennis.

Jeanie,..its never dropped to what we could call normal level,..that would be when one can follow the Nature Walk along the river bank,..Swans are swimming along there today,..its only dropped enough to prevent houses in Town from being flooded.

What i hate is the fact Swans are nesting where there are little hillocks of dry land,..it takes approx 35 days for eggs to hatch,..by that time those little hillocks should be little hills in the middle of fields leaving the eggs open to predators Shrug!

I thought the stonework was 'top notch' as well.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.
