I never saw anything like the lantern. The other two are also very beautiful. All we have is rain, rain, rain.

Please stop complaining/bragging about your rain! Whistling You're hurting my feelings. We're on day 40 of temps over 100. Today it's 104 or 105 depending on who is talking. No rain, few clouds for a very long time. We drove to our lake house to water last week and it rained on us driving up. It didn't rain here, tho. We were so disappointed.

Even the bananas are starting to burn. I've never seen anything like this.

Hope you know I'm teasing about the rain? I'm glad when anyone gets it!!!

Yeah, I hear Texas is being introduced to climate change the hard way. The governor is doing a raindance though. Maybe that'll help. Smiling

All stunning hibiscus. J. Lantern should be called fireworks. I had to look this one up to see an overall photo. What an amazing habit. I'd bet this brings a smile to your face every time it's in bloom.

Fred, Guv is renting a house up the hill from us until the mansion is renovated. ( Wait...we're not in the gated community). He did shoot a coyote while he was jogging recently, so I guess he saved me from meeting one when I go out to get the paper early in the morning. I'll take anything he can do to end the drought. Eternally grateful.

We don't really expect rain here. We go outside to watch the thunderstorms, knowing there's little risk of gettin wet, even when it's all around us. That's the desert for you. Of course, we're sitting cool with temperatures only in the 90s today.

Watching all the troubles over there and hoping you guys get a break soon. It sounds like some people are really starting to suffer. Crying

This is my Tamera Jean. Her blossoms are huge and usually stay open for two to three days.

And this is a picture of Tahitian Princess (in the middle) and Sunny Wind (on either side). The blossoms on these only stay open one day.

Doris, I have never seen seed pods on my tropical hibiscus. Maybe cause I cut the flowers off once they wilt. The only way I know about propogating the tropical hibiscus is by cuttings. Right now my plant is very small and does not have enough stems to cut. I'll keep you in mind when it needs a trim. Smiling

This is my Tahitian Orange Garnet. Believe it or not, these two pictures are of the same hibiscus. The first one is the flower during the warm months and the second picture is of the flower in the cold winter months. :)

Beautiful flowers. Thanks for sharing those. We had a heat wave come through and everything stopped blooming. Some new buds forming, though, so I should have more flowers soon. In the meantime, I'm enjoying yours. Thumbs up

I was told by our "hibiscus man" that now, at least here in Florida, is the time to trim back your hibiscus. It promotes bigger and better blooms come November. Since my Tahitian Orange Garnet was having a problem with thrips, I gave it a good cutting before the systemic treatment. I also gave the Sunny Wind a dramatic trim as it had really grown out of control. Sunny Wind is already blooming again, that one just never stops! The Tahitian Orange Garnet is showing new growth and I am just waiting for new buds. Smiling

This is a variegated hibiscus, grown as much for it's foliage, but the pendulous blooms are always welcome.
