With my cursory looking at catalogue over the years, I knick named it marauder, but after looking at ATP database and threads about reds I guess I need to do more sleuthing, Confused

I envy foliage like that, especially in this heat. Thumbs up

Actually, I do know the red iris 's name. I mislabeled the pic. I was wandering in my yard, lamenting the dead headS and weeds I cannot reach when I looked at the tag and realized it is "Forge Fire". Sighing!

I may have already posted this elsewhere...I was just so surprised to see Drunk Skunk (Kasperek)
blooming yesterday - and today it's Aug. 1!! And the weather has been in the 100's and there's a drought!
A brave little iris!

And a very perfect bloom in that heat too!

Yes, but rather tame by Kasperek standards! Some are outrageous!! I'm hoping that his Zebra Gardens
will be taking orders again some time.

The first Kasperek iris that I remember seeing was Baboon Bottom, kind of a strange, streaky, pinky iris. So Drunk Skunk is a very tame name by comparison.

I have Batik. It's much lovelier than pictures. Not everyone's taste is the same, though. If they were, this would be one boring planet!

Oh yes! My hub and I always disagree when deciding which is most beautifu irisl every spring. It is good to have differing tastes or we would all love ourselves too much!

I am not a 'broken color' fan myself but a couple of our club members like them.

I got several broken color Irises some years back thinking that I'd like to try something different. Now I'm thinking about taking at least a couple of them out. 'Batik' has been kind of a wimpy grower for me, but I'll give it a little more time. I've got so many Iris looking for real estate that I think 'Tiger Honey' and possibly 'Brindled Beauty' will become history in the garden.

I will put in a bid for a place for some. I received Batik last year, and it had one bloom, but the triple clump looks very healthy. I like the broken colors, but then I like plicata and amoenas, and bitones . . .

Inner Space opened again. Also one of Marilyn's Aril Med seedlings opened again. Both are better stalks than the spring bloom.

I didn't take another picture, but Again and Again is reblooming again.
Sugar Maple snuck another bloom that we didn't see, just the spent bloom.

I like the broken colors, but not as much as the fancy, ruffled ones.

I've never seen an iris that I *didn't like*....but, the BC iris aren't my 'favorites". We (that's the ROYAL *we*) have several in the gardens, and, I have to say, the folks who see them either say " WOW !!", or ,"What's the matter with THAT one ?"
