I have a rebloom scape again on Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Honey Scoop')
This one started in Feb, and bloomed again in April, then in late June and now will again in Aug. It usually will rebloom again in Oct or Nov.

I love Precious Halo, Tom. I grow Amber Amulet. It has only bloomed once and the constant rain ruined the blooms before I could get a photo. This is one from the database.

Barbara -- that orange Iris would look spectacular next to/in front of black Irises!!

Edited to add: I tried to upload a picture of my Savannah Sunset in front of Swazi Princess. It just simply wouldn't upload -- is ATP having trouble with photos? This is the second day I've had these problems.........

Precious Halo a BB? I bet it is a runt type tall. We median nuts had thought we got people away from introducing those instead of using the nice form to cross with something hardy.

The database entry for Precious Halo is just strange. It's listed as being classified as both a TB and as a BB, but with a registered height of 36" the BB can't be correct. Something got off kilter on the entry.

It was registered as a BB, with a height of 30" http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie... Just another "one of many" that, in the real world, doesn't stay "in class"

I can't wait for my Honey Scoop to grow Sue..

Barbara, I put my 'Edgefield Glow' with 'Halloween Halo', and 'Smart Money'.. The Orange beard on HH and the yellow of SM look great with it. I could also see it with something like 'Paul Black', with it's orange beards as well.

The ATP database indicates the registered height was at 36". The iris Wiki does indicate 30" as the registered height. My point, I guess, is that the ATP database is somewhat confusing here. I thought the registration data on ATP corresponded to the official registration data in AIS. I think Fred Kerr could change it in AIS if he wanted to since he is the hybridizer, but maybe it stays in class for him. If Kerr doesn't change it officially, then it's still a registered BB whether it grows out of class or not. In that case the fact that it is known to grow to 36" in height like a TB would be valid in talking about how it grows, but not how it is registered. Rolling on the floor laughing It would probably grow in class for me. I can rarely get TBs above 30" in my growing conditions even when I have the rare good year for them. Something about my spot in the world because I can give them to someone 10 miles away and they will manage to reach the correct height Glare .

Not really Smiling . Could be the grower. Generally I do better with getting arilbreds to match the official registration specs, but not so much other bearded iris. Mostly the medians just haven't survived well and those that have don't bloom very often. IBs have performed the best. The medians tend to do better after a colder and wetter than normal winter. Often our winters don't provide those conditions. TBs do pretty well a lot of the time, but just tend to be shorter and with fewer buds than they have for others. Spuria iris reach good height most of the time. I used to spend a lot of time trying to figure out why the TBs didn't do those things very often, but I gave up finally and just take what I can get. Thumbs up

My beds that get some shade, from the hot afternoon sun, always grow exceptionally tall stalks.......not as many as the ones in the sun....but they're taller !
As to the "registered height", I would suppose that 30" was the average of the stalks , in the hybridizers garden (as well as anyplace he happened to send plants , for "test"...if he did), and, it would be just that, an average. My point is, reading the "registered height" on the wiki, or , for that matter, the "listed height" on a sellers page, or catalog....is just a rough idea of the iris' true height......different soils, different climate, different culture changes a LOT about how an iris grows.....and height seems to be the thing most affected. That, coupled with the "possibility" that , when "describing" the iris' height, coloring, season, or other "attributes", the hybridizer (read that as "proud parent" !) is very liable to "gild the lily" (or, in this case, the iris Sticking tongue out !) just a bit....and , really, so what !! If an SDB happens to grow on the "tall" side, maybe it can be registered as an IB, and if the TB quite often ends up "short"....let's call it a BB. The only problem with doing that is when someone wants a row of "mid season, 30" tall" iris, and right behind that, a row of "mid season" 38" iris, and when they all get into bloom....there are tall ones in front, AND in back, and the season of bloom runs from "early," to "very late"....ten they are disappointed ! That's the reason , in the registrations, the AIS wants that information, as a guideline for those folks who want to 'plan their garden'.....in reality...it's all still pretty much a guessing game, as all that really counts....is how it grows for you !

I am on my cell phone sonit is hard to add database pics but My Oh My is also a lovely Orange and white. It bloomed late for me but had lots of buds. Hope it continues to do well.
I like broken color iris. Especially Bewilderbeast and really enjoyed Peggy Anne this year. Grows better than Batik, and each bloom was distinctly different in pattern. If also had my first bloom of Tiger Honey and thought it was fantastic. Liger didn't impress me much and I am ambivalent about Isn't It Something that grows well for me but often seems washed out.

Really love the spoons on that one Sherry! The color reminds me of Purr Forms Mints which was lovely in the garden last spring. Nice send Sue!!
