Those are very cool Lilli! Great minds, right Thumbs up . They bloom much later than other muscari and bloomed with the TBs. I don't recall seeing them this spring Confused maybe they didn't show up this year.

Not much to do at this point but did have Sugar Blues, 1985 Zurbrigg, pop out:

Wow, Dave! I have some planted in June, but I haven't seen a single bloom yet. I figured I wouldn't until next spring. I'm impressed!

There's still time Barbalee, if you have rebloomers. 'Constant Companion' has a pregnant fan here after being in the ground two months. There was a frost last night.

Sorry for the frost, Niki! I will probably have one in a couple of weeks...not looking forward to it! I've not seen a pregnant fan yet, so I doubt I'll have a shot at a bloom until next year. Oh, wellers!

We hit 36 here this morning. And the kicker is we will hit 85 this weekend. Does wonders for the sinuses. So we will likely have a few Frost's which will eliminate me from the Sisters EOS sale. Dang!!!

We're expecting a lot of rain over the next couple of days. The news reported that some places will get up to 1.5 inches tomorrow. The bad part is there will be up to 40+ mph winds. Saturday looks to be similar weather to Friday...with spotted showers Sun and Mon, followed by some days of dry weather.

So hang in there Cali, Mother Nature is going to turn the water faucet on tomorrow.

Thank You!

I have never had any critters go after the bone meal that I sprinkle around the rhizomes and scratch in. Think you should be fine.

I realize that was a page ago. Sorry for the late response John!

I ordered more garden mix for the enlarging of my back nursery bed. I ordered 2 cubic yards. When they called to tell me they were on their way with the soil the guy said "I gave you a bit more. So it is closer to 2 1/2 to 3 cubic yards." The truck arrived and it is closer 4 cubic yards! Blinking wow I have a whole lot of dirt to move.

And to where? My raised dwarf ring needs more dirt now that it has all settled but I do not want to dig up and replant all the many dwarf iris that are living there until after bloom time. And I really need to finish painting the side of my house before I start any new garden beds.

Just cleaned all the gutters on both stories. That darn ladder weighs a ton. Thumbs down Taking a break before I climb on the roof and lift off some tiles and clean all the flashing. I'll also repair, or replace any broken tiles and seal any new cracks on the stucco. Then it's off to remove all the bird feeders, wind chimes and other garden decor.

I'll be ready for the incoming storms! Thumbs up

i wishi could say the same, at the bottom of our state.... i don't know how much measureable rain we will have, especially since it's headed our way from north to south. however, any precipitation would be great.

i just heard from the forcaster that we are expecting 'some' rain over the weekend, but our coastal highs will be at 96 deg. by wednesday. (sigh)

edited to say: ready for cooler weather.

It was hot 80° today as we've been averaging low 70's since the hurricane.

Also, just scored some free milk crates from the owner of the gas station. My new Rob irises now have a chance to grow and not get pulled by wascly wabbits.
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

No rain yet (we did get a few sprinkles this afternoon) but it's getting really windy here.

Rob, I sure hope you get a nice rain out of this and not too fast to soak in nicely. I'm sure the ground is going to soak it up though. Maybe your critters will be able to find things to eat besides your yard now if you get enough rain. Smiling

Planted a peony and my last two irises (bar a pile of I. reticulata bulbs) for the season. It's really too late to plant irises here, but with a bit of luck, our first real frost is almost a month away. Crossing Fingers! We will have nights with hoar frost long before then, but that usually does not affect the irises.

Now I just need to move a few perennials around, plant some roses and Helleborus seedlings, now living in pots, out into new beds, move the rest of my tender perennials into winter storage and then I am as ready for winter as I will ever be! Smiling
