Tom, that's very exciting! Have those seedlings had a winter in the ground yet?

Yes, Neal, these were from last year's seedlings that I set out last summer.

That makes me think its likely to be a rebloomer. I'm anxious to see it!

Went ahead and potted some seeds today. I figured since most big shot hybridizers don't soak seeds I didn't either on this batch. Will they take? Who knows...

I did 20 seeds of Strawberry Shake × I Wuv Woses. Leslie will help make cull and select choices in the future.

I also chicken wired them up since there's digs all over from squirrels Acorn Acorn Acorn Hopefully if something grows a greenhouse will be ready to securely hold the pots.
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

It's a cross between Adriatic Waves (Pollen parent) and my purple seedling (Unknown parentage self seeded). So it will be most likely a purple self, although one other one that bloomed was nothing like either parent, and one looked a bit like Adriatic Waves only more purple. Not sure where the re-bloom would have come from. I just hope the weather holds warm enough for it to finish blooming.

Those look to be some cool crosses! I'll be eager to see what happens.

I didn't check all the "pedigrees", Tom, but "AW"'s pod parent is Yaquina Blue, which is a known Re "carrier". I think there are one, or two others in the mix, as well.

Wow, all these seedlings getting a start! Hurray! Can't wait to hear about all the progress.

Meanwhile I got 20 overdue potted iris planted. Hardly exciting except for the iris finally released from their pots. Hilarious!

Hope to plant my few seeds over the weekend. One was a batch which I found in a drawer--will see how they turn out for germination. Much more than the other 2 bee pods.

Seeds! Thank You! for reminding me - need to check the ones in the fridge and get the seeds from my last two crosses soaked and sown!
This year I have tried not soaking, soaking in water, soaking in tea, some seeds have been put directly in little pots and some are given cold treatment in the fridge. Hope to get some clear results from this and of course some pretty irises! Crossing Fingers!

I tip my hat to you.

What works for me , might not work for others, but I know I am not the only one here trying out different methods, so hopefully we can exchange results and be inspired by each other - just like always! Group hug

I have a confused little honeybee. There is nothing blooming in my back yard right now. I have been planting iris the last two nights so have had my bag of bone meal out. The bag is pink and white with a closeup picture of flowers on it. The poor little bee keeps putting his proboscis out to try to get nectar from the flowers on the bag. Last night was his second time trying. Sad I feel like I should buy something flowering just so he has real nectar to take back to the hive.

I spent quite a bit of today printing labels for the irises I planted this year. I managed less than half of them. Still waiting for a parcel containing the markers, couriered from England (by me to me), to arrive.
The good news is that DH thought he had turned off the heating to the swimming pool before we left 3 weeks ago, but he hadn't. So we have a beautifully warm pool which I plan to use tomorrow. Smiling
