New beds can be very had to make, but don't they look great when you finally finish! That looks like a very long bed.

Missed it as wel. Hello

I agree on the water over fertilizer statement. The hardest part about that is, when they really need to be tanked up is when there are no blooms and its so hot out its miserable, Thats were I fall off the wagon.

Daylilies
Got my order from Slightly Different Nursery today. Hurray! Hurray! My first bare-root daylily order ever.
Most he sent were triple fans, and way bigger than I expected. Thumbs up Thumbs up
Here is the first one I took out of the box:

Thumb of 2015-05-08/Dennis616/195fb3

Planted them immediately. It's been in the 80's lately nodding so the ground was nice and warm, and moist because had some rain recently.
Supposed to get a rain tonight and the next three days so I hope they don't get too much Shrug!

I am very happy though, so good so far!

I would think that they would be fine.
We've had 5 inches of rain in the last 3 days and it's poring down now and another wave coming this evening. Blinking More rain through Sunday. My daylilies look great though!

Paul has great daylilies and is a very nice guy. What one did you get Whistling

We need rain so bad. I cant imagine a daylily getting too much water, unless it was not in a good drainage situation.

Paul spoke at the AHS Region 5 winter meeting a couple years ago. He's a great speaker - lots of fun. I have his "H. Shutterbug" in a pot on my front porch. I need to get it into the ground soon. My junior yard helper is working his way through my front-raised-bed identifying the plants that have lost their markers. I'll replace one of them with Shutterbug.

Daylilies
Paul has been great answering my questions and certainly sent me quality fans.
I got 16 daylilies from him, all but 2 hybridized by him. 5 dips and the rest tets.

Hard to pick some faves because I love them all. I'm really looking forward to seeing "Leaping Waterfalls" and "Work It Girl". And one of the gift plants Paul gave me is his fantastic 2015 introduction "Queen Kong" which I also am especially looking forward to seeing.

I've got two more orders from other sellers coming.

With the clay soil I'm a bit concerned about the rain, although the beds are raised a bit, and in a couple of them I installed some socked 4" drain tile in key locations to assist with drainage. This will be a good test I guess.
