Mike, did you mean in general, like you have 42 fingers, or with it showing up in the box when you are typing. I've had problems with both!

Gee, Mike, you should try my iPad. You wouldn't believe the things it does all on its own. I am almost afraid to go to sleep at night for fear I might not be around in the morning. After a year of dealing with Apple, they finally replaced it, but this one is just as bad or worse. Sad

Are you sure they are cemented in? He might just be sayin that. If they are not you might be able to move them out 2 feet without him noticing http://garden.org/i/s/whistlin...

Ha ha yes they are cemented and if I could move them 2 feet he would definitely notice. Today I dug up 2 old fuchsia and made space for more daylilies that I have coming. I have 7 on the way. I really must stop looking on daylily sites 😊

Welcome Dennis! Embarrassing garden areas? Nah. Yours look great and it looks like you have some pretty decent soil to grow them in, too!

My daylily vice is growing hybrid seedlings. All kinds! Daylilies are VERY addicting! I grow most all mine from seeds. Started out with about 30 or so seeds and now I have probably over 300 seedlings. Ahhhh, but it is fun! One can never have enough land to plant on .... even if you get rid of lawn. Big Grin Thumbs up

daylilydreams said:Welcome to ATP Dennis! Sounds like you will have a good start with all the plants you have coming this spring. A true daylily addict always seems to be tempted by more daylilies. Oh the Joy!!!

Some of my favorite hybridizers are Judy Davisson http://www.picturetrail.com/da....
Minnesota's own Karol Emmerich http://www.springwoodgardens.c... and Gary Schaben http://www.frozendaylily.com/i.... Check out Daylilies on Ice for more northern hybridizers http://web.ncf.ca/ah748/ccdc.h... and for hybridizers across the country check out Chatlotte's Daylily Diary http://daylilydiary.com/.

I have to check if I have any of Paul Owen's daylilies in my Flowers program I use to keep track of all my plants. I do have daylilies from many hybridizers across the country not just the northern folks.

Thanks Betty!

And thanks for the hybridizer links. I have 3 coming from Karol Emmerich so I am definitely on to her. Will check out the others you list for sure!

Maybe next year? hee hee

Thanks Patty. Amazing bud counts and instant re-bloom? I'm in! Will definitely check those out. Just came back in from starting on making some new beds. I'm being conservative--- there will definitely be room for making the beds bigger later. Oh the joy that awaits!

I will check that thread out, thank-you. Fragrance seems to be generally ignored for the most part? Maybe because so few daylilies have anything close to a strong fragrance. I will be putting a bunch of fragrant ones around a Korean Spice Viburnum, which is extremely fragrant, so I'm pretty much guaranteed an aroma zone. Looking forward to seeing how it works out...

Thanks, Becky. I definitely have some nicer-looking areas, and the clay soil actually can be very good if broken-up and mixed with compost.
Growing those seedings must be exciting-- not knowing for sure what they will end up being. I've already picked out a spot for a 10' x 6' seedling bed. Oh boy, here I go. Stop me before its too late...

there is nothing I like better than to stand in the garden early in the morning and take in that heavenly scent that is heightened by the morning dew. I enjoy an entirely different fragrance on a hot sunny day, and always say "if only I could bottle that wonderful smell. Alone, many don't have much smell, but together there is nothing like it!!

I hadn't noticed a scent ever in a daylily bloom until I stuck my nose in several different seedling blooms today. There really is a scent!!! A nice scent too! I bet with a lot of daylilies in bloom at one time, it must be heavenly! Lovey dubby

Daylilies
I feel silly asking this http://garden.org/i/s/blushing... but I have never before ordered daylilies by mail order and never before planted bare root fans. (I’ve always planted from 1-gallon pots).

When planting for a single clump in an area that is a 3-foot circle, how far apart do I place the fans (assuming I receive a double fan)?

When planting for two clumps (two 3-foot circles) am I better-off planting both fans in one clump area and waiting 2-3 years to split the clump to start the second? Or should I plant one fan in each clump?
