Same here! Aside from my corn (which I've never tried before) and green beans I cheated on most everything this year and bought them already started. However aside from the toms, the plants are just starting to look like they will begin taking off. I am trying Celebrity Tomatoes since I always end up with problems. I just wanted something disease resistant. If I still have problems I am going to take a year off and solarize the whole garden.

I visited my sister today. She is a flower gardener, never plants a veggie garden. She has 2 potted cherry tomato plants on her deck, about half the size of my cherry tomato plants in community garden. She was able to pick a half dozen ripe ones for me to eat while there! And they were not the first she's picked! Go figure! Shrug! Anyway they were so delicious! Drooling

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome to ATP and to the Northeast Forums. Welcome! Welcome!

Your veggie garden sounds like it is going great guns. I am surprised you have peppers and tomatoes already. You must be doing something right. I tip my hat to you.

So today I couldn't wait any longer and I picked 5 of my summer squashes. They are - One green zucchini, two golden egg and two green tiger.

These are the striped Green Tiger Zucchini.

Squash Patch

This is the area where I made bamboo teepees and planted beans. Nothing has come up yet but it really is too soon.

Just picked my first cherry tomatoes, pickling cukes, and lots of lettuces, arugula, and kale. Hurray!

Been picking zucchini at my Dad's , At the rate we are picking them I'll have to freeze some for sure. Yellow squash at my place is booming. Have at least 20 almost ready to pick. My first cucumbers should be ready to pick in a day or two. Picked my first bush string beans yesterday but they never made it to inside. Great outdoor snack while we worked yesterday in the yard. Still picking peas although some of the vines are starting to die back. Second batch of peas are sprouted indoors. Pole beans have sprouted in the garden so lets hope Mr. Chippie doesn't dig them up. Kale and lettuce still going strong. Replanted swiss chard and red beet greens and they are finally coming along. The rain kept smashing them into the ground. Been picking basil, mint and parsley regularly. Sorry no pics my camera is dead and my phone camera won't hold a charge.

Karen, your garden sure is doing great!

Anyone boil their summer squash? On one of the other threads here at ATP someone said they boil the squash like you would for potatoes. I never tried that.

Thanks Rita, It's been a weird growing season so far. Still waiting for my tomatoes to turn red. Loaded with lots of green ones and the tomatoes are above the six foot cage.

Never heard of boiling squash like potatoes. I use mine to spiral and use it like spaghetti or make veggie pizza with homemade crust topped with squash slices, tomatoes, fresh oregano and mozzarella and herb feta cheese.
