Meredith79 said:I am having really good luck with the Celebrity tomatoes. I usually always get diseased heavily by this time of the year and I can tell they are resisting the disease because the cherry tomato is the same type as last year (Sweet Million) and they are showing the signs much more severely. I did get some cracking on the top of the Celebrity but I think it was because of a problem with my drip system. DH weed whacked and there was a leak in one of the tomato beds. I am wondering if anyone can recommend a disease resistant cherry for me to try next year. I find the Sweet Million to have very tough skin. I thought it was growing conditions but the other toms in the same bed don't have tough skin at all.

Have you ever tried SunSugar? Much tastier than Sweet Million. I used to grow Sweet Million but no longer grow it.

I picked 3 summer squashes and a lot of tomatoes today. No cucumbers as those vines were pulled afew days ago.

Anyway the spring planted squash plants are totally all gone and pulled but I am getting squash from my mid summer started ones. Don't know how long they will go on as they have also come down with the mildew. Oh well going to get too cold for them soon anyway.

But I was really surprised at the really nice tomato harvest today. For this late in the year it was awesome. I had lots of yellow tomatoes from my Lemon Boys, Jubilees and Juanne Flemme plants., I had some nice beefmasters including three nice big ones. And my Early girls just keep on pumping them out.

Still picking Early Girl, Black Krimm (volunteer in the azalea bushes) and a few Rutgers tomatoes. Two more butternut squash picked today. Have one cucumber vine still producing. Most of the squash is done. Waiting for the gourds to dry before picking them. Had to pick about 30 gourds cause they where in the way of me getting in the garden and some critter was trying it's hardest to pull the gourds down, eat the top and leave it on the ground.

Caught a huge raccoon the other night and since transported it far away.

Haven't had time to work in the garden cause the chicken coop project has taken over. It's so close to being completed and will be critter proof.

Early Girl is always a star here. Great production and it never quits. Perfect looking tomatoes too, never cracks or splits.

Surprisingly I'm still picking Tomatoes, a few cucumbers, Hungarian Peppers, Kale, Swiss Chard, chives, basil, dill seed, oregano, green onions, green beans and still have a few beets in the ground. Two more butternut squash growing and I haven't had two minutes to water the garden. Thank god for compost and mulch.

The squirrels found the gourds so everyday I find a few scattered and chewed on the lawn.

I'm still picking the same items as Karen, except the squash. Some mine, some from abandoned boxes in community garden. Lots of tomatoes to my surprise! Most gets donated to the soup kitchen. I deliver the produce there from community garden 2-3 times a week. They love my heirloom tri- colored cherry tomatoes for their salads!

Too long to wait, I would have gone bonkers by now! Hilarious!

I do try and make sure I have some early varieties so as to start off the tomato season in July. Don't want to be waiting till August for anything ripe.
