Great thread Trish! Have you done any containers yet?

Unfortunatly not. Between being constantly tethered to the computer and the extreme heat and drought, gardening hasn't come easily. We're struggling to get our fall market garden going, which is a greater priority at the moment.

BUT- I'm being inspired!

Talk to me in the fall...right now we're just trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) just to keep things alive.

It's pretty bad here in TX this year. My gardens were brand new as of this spring, and didn't get the opportunity to become established before the heat and drought set in. Then, we have all of our market gardens. We've probably lost all of our maiden trees that we planted (2 maples, 2 oaks, 2 magnolias, several crepe myrtles and I've even lost some TX sage)... Just the electricity for the well was almost $100.

One thing about gardeners, though...we always have the seeds of hope for next year.

Hurray! Wahoo, the shoe store is filling up. Thanks Becky.

Charleen I put moss to hold the soil in the shoe. the plants are sticking through the moss in the holes.

Wow Trish, that's aweful. I can send you a baby Golden Chain tree this fall when your weather is nice and cool. Do you have fig trees? What are your winter temps like? Seems like figs should do well where you are. I also can send young oaks, they are small, but tough. Need any English walnut trees?
