Like the use of the crates, Becky. I use the cake pans that angel food cakes come in from the grocery store as planters. They actually hold up quite well if they are in a somewhat protected spot in the garden. You can also use them to make succulent wreaths. Big Grin

Thanks Tee....I think they are from the greenhouse, I can't remember. Just know they were free. Or maybe pop holders? Who knows.

I like the idea about the angel food cake container. Gee, I'd have to eat it first! Big Grin

Here is a picture of a flour sifter (DH said his mom used to have one like this) and small tea kettle that I plan on drilling holes in the bottom for planters. The blue one is one I've had for years, decided it would be a good plant holder too.

Very nice Peg! I used to have a flour sifter like that too that my mother in law gave me ... don't have a clue what ever happened to it, probably went to the thrift shop and someone found a use for it. Now I realize it would have made a neat plant container! Big Grin That bright blue kettle of yours would look great with some bright yellow flowers poking out the top!

See what I can find in yellow for the blue pot. Hoping to stop at our 99 cent only store, they have plants all the time (that is if others didn't get the good ones first).

Hurray! Pegi how fun those are going to be in the garden. Here is a link to add them to the Tea Kettle photos. http://cubits.org/sedumandsemp...
There is also one for shoes. http://cubits.org/sedumandsemp...

Yellow will be beautiful in the blue kettle, or maybe even orange flowers. Lovey dubby

The jewelry box is one of favorites along with the crocs! I'm not a big fan of crocs but they look perfect for plants with those little pre-made holes in the toe Hilarious!

Becky- weeds by far. We don't eat it, but the chickens are happy to ;) I grow for the chickens too!

I did buy a container that was a simply label of "Portulaca" a couple of years ago just to carry me though when I had no gardens. NOID on it, just pink flowers. It spewed it's seeds in a corner, and I let it grow in some areas.

Yes, I guess I could utilize it better *Blush*

She is beautiful. As much as I love decorating with red, it's not my favorite in the garden....I LOVE hot pinks the very most. Thanks for sharing. Lovey dubby

Be sure to share her living space photo sometime if you can catch her before she and her friends close up. (ahem: post in Purslane & Portulaca too). Hurray!

LOL- I snuck up on her. She was hiding under that giant datura that has taken over the walk!

Come to think of it, I must not be a big fan of red in the garden either- I don't have a lot of it! Now my house....the library is red, and there is splashes of red everywhere else too.

And now...back to the containers thread!

To make this somewhat related, Dave does have a pair of crocs that he never ever wears...I could plant her in those!

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Trish, if Dave is like my husband, the minute you plant them, he'll ask you where they are, cause he wants to wear them. Though, the image of Dave on his tractor wearing croc's is hilarious.

Trish: I'd grab those old Croc's of Dave's and plant them up! Depending on the color, you could let the kids paint/decorate the exterior. Croc's definitely aren't for tractor use ... but they do make great planters! Big Grin

I am home for awhile today. Having fun catching up on what all of you are growing.

Steven, do you have any unusual containers? I have an extra pink croc if you'd like it. Whistling

Trish said:To make this somewhat related, Dave does have a pair of crocs that he never ever wears...I could plant her in those!

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing He'll forgive you Trish when he sees how wonderful they are with the brightly colored purslane growing in them. Much better idea than tractor shoes. Hilarious!

Tee your containers are wonderful. That's the nice part about growing in containers, you can move them if things aren't working for them. Lovey dubby

I have been watching Steven post on another Container thread and getting some great ideas from his awesome combinations. Now to see how I can use those ideas for some of my other unusual containers. Whistling
