Here is my cast iron sink, started it with succulents as it just isn't deep enough for other plants. Had to take it at an odd angle as my tomato plants have over powered the sink.

Pegi I'm hyperventilating over the sink. That looks like the ones the used to have in the school restrooms. And look at the wonderful faucets looking like you just turned them on to water the plants. Love what your DH did with the brick trim. Lovey dubby

Cinda look. Hurray!
Your tool box and my tool box could be best friends here at ATP. Except mine doesn't look like this now. Sad Most of the plants died during the winter. Time to replant it with hardier plants.

Now I want to go farm yard saling (spell check doesn't like this word, but I do). I love the chicken feeder. Boy would that make an awesome succulent container. Lovey dubby
I love the plants you chose for the wicker chair, they really complement each other.

Gardengus: I really love that old wooden tool box! I had an old wooden chair sitting out in the garden once with a large potted plant sitting on the seat. It was only out there for about two weeks when my husband noticed it and brought it inside thinking I had left it out by mistake! LOL ... he doesn't understand garden art.

Lynn: I hope you will replant your tool box and post a pic or two ... I'm loving all these creative ideas! The next time I'm shopping garage sales or thrift stores I will be on the lookout for unusual stuff to use for garden art!

My SIL had that sink in her yard for years and when she decided to clean up she asked me if I wanted that sink. OF COURSE!! It is very heavy you almost needed a crane to get it into my back yard. SIL had it right in the ground, but I think DH's idea is really better. At that time I didn't know I was going to put a raised bed in front of it. She isn't a gardening person so that is why I lucked out. Now I have to look for an old tool box, who knows we may even have one around here in all his junk.

Oh my gosh, Cinda, I love that chair you got out of the trash! Mmmm, I know someone who used to have chickens, wonder if he still has some things I could use. He lived in a mobile home with lots of land, now he rents it out.

Lynn: I love that kettle! I planted something in a tea kettle once but had forgotten to drill holes for drainage and the plant ended up floating. I think I still have the tea kettle around someplace ... I'll have to look for it and add the drainage holes and re-plant it. Thanks for reminding me of that! I love that succulent trailing over the sides of yours .. that foliage color looks really nice with the pattern on the kettle!

I have a collection of ivory colored pitchers and used to use them as cache pots for small plants to sit down in. They are packed away now and I lost my pictures when my laptop crashed a year or so ago.

Lin, a nail and a hammer will work too. Tere are so many great things to use for containers. I've been looking at an old bucket that is covered with porceline stuff. but if I drill a hole the coating will pop off. I may have to try it tho...

Thank you Lin. Can't wait to see your tea kettle added to mine and Charleen's. That will make it a tea kettle collection here in the thread.

DH is so sweet. I bring a box of items into his shop and leave them. In a day or two he gives the box back with holes drilled in all the found items. : )

Great thread Trish.

Lynn, in a follow up to you bringing your container(s) inside for the winter. Is there something I can spray on mine to make sure no gnats or bugs come in with them?

Camphort essentil oil - just a drop or two on a rock sitting in the container will do the trick! just dont get it onthe plant!

Hurray! Lin is that one of the pitchers you were talking about? Love it.

Lori can you explain how it works? Where would we get Camphort essentil oil? Would you place the rock a few days before bringing the plant indoors? Is it strong smelling once you bring it indoors?
