I don't know. I'd have to go searching for it. Good news in that Big George just opened a spike with three nice flowers and seems to be recovered from surgery. I'm taking him and eight others with me to the orchid club meeting tomorrow. It should be fun.

Looking over the mounted species in the cage, look who has a couple of "buggy blooms"!
I have this old mounted Epidendrum schlechterianum and also a newer smaller mounted species called Epidendrum longirepens. They look absolutely identical to me, although the longirepens should be a var. of schlechterianum. Would one not see a tiny difference somewhere?
First the Epidendrum schlechterianum, now totally enclosing the mount on all sides.
Epidendrum schlechterianum var longirepens
Perhaps one grows on one side of a mountain and the other 5 miles further. When the earth and moon align, one of them has whiskers, the other one does not?
Surely the experts find a minute difference, or both of them are actually var. longirepens or neither one is.

Or the boffins, in their infinite quest to complicate our lives, found a difference at the cellular level whilst looking through a big expensive electron microscope that they feel they need to use just to justify its purchase . . . ??

These are all of the orchids I took to the TOC meeting Tuesday.
Big George is back after pouting for months just because I wacked a third of him off for Elaine. Here is (C. George Baldwin x C. Trithena):
Myc. Luster (C. forbesii x Mcp. thomsoniana) with two nice spikes:
B. nodosa with lots of flowers. Nice scent in the evening.
I lost one of the flowers on Rlc. Dream Trader X Rlc. Phil Anderson the morning of the show. Anyway, the remaining one is huge and nicely fragrant.
Tons of flowers on Bc. Memoria Bernice Foster (Bc. Richard Mueller x B. subulifolia)
Lovely colors on Stlma. Kelly (B. nodosa x Ctna. Keith Roth):
One of my favorite Catt hybrids, C. Penny Kuroda x C. granulosa:
With both good form and color, Cahuzacara [Chz.] Haleahi Sunbow (Bsn. Maikai x Rby. Golden Tang)
This is a cute little guy called Phal. Peter Blue Sky (Phal. Siam Treasure x Phal. pulcherrima):
Finally, one I didn't take to the show because all of the buds blasted except one, Ctsm. Crownfox Voodoo (Ctsm. Susan Fuchs x Ctsm. tenebrosum). Another reason I didn't take it is because the flower looks nothing like what the images on OrchidWiz show. I think there is a mislabel here somewhere.
Oops, found one tiny one more. It seems my Pleurothallis [Pths.] hamosa is in bloom but the boffins now call her Acianthera [Acia.] hamosa.

Love the colors on Haleahi Sunbow, and Kelly Lea is elegant. But that little Phal, gorgeous! I'm looking for one of those next time we go to Krull-Smith.
It's so hot here I have buds blasting right and left. All the thunderstorms are taking a detour around Sarasota for the last few days, it seems.
Sad and lonely Catyclia Leafhopper only managed to open one of nine buds. I'm kind of proud of my ugly artificial shade cloth 'tree' that I rigged up for a little extra sun protection. C'mon clouds!!

Jim, your plants are AWESOME! I can't believe you have so many in bloom! There's not much more than lots of new growth going on with my orchids right now.
I love that Pluerothallis...dont' think I've ever seen one. I love buying unique orchids! The C. Penny...should be called "Freckles" I love those spots!
Elaine, I kinda like that the rain has held off for a few days. I've stayed inside for the most part, but I was able to fertilize everything again this morning without worrying about drowning it all! And as a bonus I haven't had to ban-rot yet!
Jim, I don't know where to look first!! Lovelies, all of them.
The Chz is very pretty and might be called another Whattheheckara, as I have trouble remembering that Genus name. The Dream Trader x is a beauty and I love that cute Phal.
We need to do a rain dance for you, Elaine I am loving the Summer weather here, sufficient amounts of rain and right now it is downright pleasant on the deck.
We are under a severe thunderstorm warning and it is rough out there. Lots of rain, wind, and lightening. We are supposed to have the same pattern the next several days.

I think I am all set to head for Tropiflora tomorrow. I'll try to leave around 8:00 AM which should put me there around 9:30. I have Elaine's cell in case something goes awry. It should be fun.

Looking forward to seeing you, Jim. I wonder if Kate is home from Virginia yet?
Let's hope the prediction for possible storms in the morning works out. I'd rather walk around with an umbrella than baking in the blazing sun.
We got clouds and some rumbling today, but still not a drop of rain. I had to turn on the hose and fill up the pool and fish pond today. At least the cloudy afternoon was a little cooler than yesterday.

The Potinara Red Heart 'Neptune' decided to throw out another single late bloom.
On my IPad the color is right on!
My Brassia hybrid ( oh Alex?) Brsdm Shooting Star 'Mustard' has another, shorter spike this season
My plain old mounted Neofinetia falcata is happily blooming
And the really strong scent of Vanilla comes from these open blooms on my Dendrobium bensoniae. I should mention, this plant hangs in full sun all Winter and gets flooded daily. No such thing as withholding water during the Winter months.
My V. Sunlight 'Orange' is getting ready to bloom again. It bloomed in March, again in May, and now should be in bloom in July. I don't know what's going on with this plant. It has always bloomed in the spring and again in the fall, but never three times in the span of four months.

Perhaps, I don't know. I remember seeing a post, either on DG or ATP several years ago that said something like: "A plant can be in bloom too long for its own health, and you'll sometimes lose that plant". They basically said the plant could bloom itself dead! I questioned that statement/theory but don't remember getting a reply. I thought it was simply stupid (but what do I know). I just thought I would mention it. Perhaps that Vanda is blooming itself to death.
