Well, I finally finished labeling the photos from Lynda Miller's place.
Miller's Manor Gardens was a small commercial nursery in Indiana.
They closed the commercial nursery and moved to Canby, OR.
They have over 100 different perennials in both sun and shade.
Their son Nathan has over 400 different conifers.
With her commercial background, Lynda has everything in her gardens
meticulously labeled. It's a beautiful garden made up of a number of
different gardens.

This beautiful wisteria greeted us at the beginning of the driveway.

The guest bearded iris were planted along the driveway
in three rows that ran from the street almost to the house.

Now, on to the bearded iris.
Lynda Miller has been hybridizing iris for many years,
specializing in TB's and MTB's. The TB seedlings are
grown offsite and the selected seedlings are moved to
home garden for reevaluation. Here are a few seedlings.

Quite a few people at the convention thought that Lynda Miller's garden
was the nicest garden that we saw.
Here are all of my garden shots (some repeats).

That is a beautiful clump of her iris Swoosh. And I love seeing Minnesota Nice. I think that one is a future buy for sure. And every picture you and Mikey have posted of Lady Leigh makes me soooooo happy she is in my garden. Hope she blooms here as beautifully as your pictures!

Wonderful gardens!!

I hope you are not disappointed with Lady Leigh when it blooms for you. The lighting conditions for most of the convention were ideal for pictures and made for intense color saturation. You can see the difference if you go back and look at some of the pictures in the Schreiner garden. The time in that garden was the closest we had to a 'sunny day'. The sun came out for the second half of the time we were there. That was when I took the bulk of the TB shots.

As you can tell, those stepping stones caught my eye too. She had a lot of nice garden art. Lynda has the eye. She could easily have been a professional landscaper.

Carl, where do you find the time to post photos and cook for the iris club? Anyway...THANKS! Your photos are always great and your food is wonderful.

Carl cooks the meat for the Clara B Rees Iris Society's picnic ever year. He cooks three different types of meat in three barrels that have charcoal briquettes in the bottom and wire racks above and then closes up the barrel. Somehow the meat comes out somewhere between barbecued, smoked and baked. Whatever happens to it is delicious. By the way, he donates his time and efforts!
