I envy everyone their rain. We are not real dry like CA, but are missing the rain as it goes north & south of us. The last weekend in May was good but it has drained away for us.

You can have some of mine. I'm in mud again, and I'm really ticked off. I had made two crosses to Reckless Abandon and was so happy to see the start of a pod. Now one rotted off in the middle of the stem. I still have one left, but rain predicted for 2 more days. Grumbling Go to California for Pete's sake! Sighing!

Sorry but if you give the rhizomes humorous reading material they might get to laughing too hard and split their sides. Hilarious!

Let me share what happened yesterday / last night ! It was raining when I took the first load of boxes to the P.O. yesterday morning.....we had already had 2 &1/2 inches, and it was still 'drizzling'.....I had to set the stack of boxes I was carrying down , in order to open the P.O. door..... bottom box got wet on the bottom.....Post Mistress said, "Don't worry about it, I'll set it here, under the ceiling fan...and it should dry out by the time the truck comes. "....... Fast forward to 10:15 last night....... Phone rings...it's the "Hub" Post office, in a large town about 30 miles from us....."The box # "such and such", addressed to "so and so", is wet on the bottom ! What is the contents ? Is it leaking ? We see holes in the box ! Is it something alive ? Should we continue delivery ? Do you want it returned to you ?........After an explanation on my part, they said ,"OK ! It's shipping !" On the "serious side" of this....it's pretty nice to know the P.O. people are both vigilant, and concerned about what's going through the mail system, and for all the "flack" the Government and especially the P.O. Department takes, they are doing what we "pay" them for !

My boxes going out has become an ongoing joke at our small local PO. Last year a new employee had spotted one of my boxes with holes in it and as it was about to be tossed into the truck she shouted 'don't throw it, it has something alive in it!'. They hit the button and shut down the whole building. They swarmed around the box and the new employee and began to fire questions at her like 'did you hear something, was it ticking, was it rattling or vibrating, etc.' when she told them 'no, but it has breathing holes in it'. They explained to her, and to everyone that was notified when they hit the red button, that this postal patron ships live plant material and the boxes always have holes. This spring when I took the first box in the girl that always takes care of my boxes could not disguise a smile and said in sotto voice 'it has breathing holes in it, is it alive?'. I'll bet the 'new' employee gets tired of hearing about the 'box'.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?

I miss our tiny PO from years ago in Manilla, UT. Population was less than 300 people. We had 2 stores, a gas station and 2 bars.
