I agree Angie....a first impression is so important. There are so many web sites I click on that I don't bother to delve into because the first impression is lacking so much. Gardeners (and artists! Big Grin ) are definitely drawn to color and style.

That is why I think Dave and Trish are working behind the scenes... to create a great banner! Hurray!

We're certainly working on it.

Trying to get all of the fun features, important gardening features and aesthetic features all at the same time is a bit of a...balance.

Thanks for your patience Big Grin

I'm not the least bit worried. I have no doubt this place will grow.

Right now it seems to be a garden in early springtime., bits of color, features, planning, etc, going on. At some point "summer" will set in offering all the newest growth, more color, more features, more balance, more delight.

Ain't nuthin' but a thang (as some say). You'll see!

This should not be rushed. It's the identity of ATP... it's important to get it right the first time. Building on what already exists is a good start! Take your time.

Just adding my 2 cents (for what its worth Whistling )

I love the butterfly, but it barely shows up on my screen and if I hadn't read this forum I would not have even known it was a butterfly.

Just throwing this out there, but what about a tree to the left of the words? Something simple and clean, like the one everyone so patiently waited to 'grow' on their tabs?

Keep experimenting, please, and I'm sure you can find a balance between elegant and lively, between elegant and professional. I'm afraid I'm with those who are not fans of the current logo -- I like the font a lot, and the little flower and butterfly are nice additions, but it's not a "grabber." An additional graphic (like a tree) would be nice, something simple enough to be easily identified (like DG's vine is easy to spot).

Also, nobody has mentioned this, but it seems odd to me to have no green in the logo for a plant site... I'd much rather see the logo in green and the little tabs at the top of the page in the blue, maybe even use a violet-blue for the flower and the butterfly. Something about the current color palette gives it a generic off-the-shelf look... just too pale for such a vibrant community. I'd probably love the style and colors of the logo for a different type of site, but it doesn't seem to represent this one to me.

My 2 cents! Looking forward to seeing what happens next -- on all fronts -- wtih this site!

Just for the record... I just bought a MacBook Pro. The yellow in the banner is at least twice as vivid yellow as on the PC Fujitsu laptop. The font, APT, appears a little greener... I guess there's a general setting for colorization. Have to snoop around to see if I can adjust the yellow. Still running FF.
