I'm preparing to have the half-bath remodeled. The old toilet will go ... now I'm wondering if I'm game for putting it out in garden. I've always liked your sink there. Personally I think the toilet with the bowl and the tank planted would be very funky. Just don't know what my neighbors might say. Neither one of them gardens, so I'm not sure they would get it. Tamara, your flowers filling the potty look pretty and disguise the fact that it is a potty. Another pot could even be added to the top of the tank!

I'm kind of funky but a toilet bowl usually looks tacky...Tamaras does not at all. BRAVO!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

ENABLER ALERT for TEE:
Buy porcelain paint and decorate the potty, then add lots of flowers!

I think that's cause Tam's is an old sink, not a potty. I tip my hat to you. That's my big hesitation too, Becky. It's very difficult to pull off the planted potty thingy just right. I guess I could have them separate the tank from the bowl and see what I might do with that. Just thinking out loud. I do hate to send things to the dump to live there forever, it seems, without some attempt to repurpose them.

ENABLER REPONSE: I like that idea!! I tip my hat to you.

*Blush* Tee, you'd think I would have noticed that it was a sink. Hilarious! No wonder I like it. Now I want one. Big Grin

Okay, how about this:
Bury the bottom part of the potty in the ground so only the bowl shows.

Or just take it to the dump! Rolling on the floor laughing

Ok....in an odd mood...think I need a nap! Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling I like the idea of the tank being used as a planter as well as the bowl. Rolling my eyes. You could build up around the potty with a raised flower bed (thus burying the bottom) with it setting in the center and call it the "throne" bed.. Sheila, are you thinking to separate the bowl and tank and bury the bowl like that ... and then do something else with the tank? As I said, I hate to throw away things like this that I know are not biodegradable. I know they will smash them at the dump, but still, the pieces aren't readily biodegradable either. I really would like to repurpose it, if I can. I'm liking the idea of a "throne" bed. Rolling on the floor laughing

I hadn't thought that far! Rolling on the floor laughing Guess you could berm up to the bottom of the tank in back. It would have a drain hole but both would get very hot. Make sure you keep it in your back yard so you won't upset the neighbors!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Unfortunately, one of my neighbors can see into that part of the backyard. But they aren't all that much into landscaping or outside all that much, so I don't think it will matter to them.

I read Aguane's tip. Good one.

If I knew mine would look as good as Tam's does, I wouldn't hesitate to do it. Thumbs up

On DG in 2007, there was a thread on Garden Design about a guy who had to take his privacy fence down on a corner because a neighbor complained. So he put a commode on the corner and decorated it, and then another, and another. The township took him to court in a zoning dispute. The neighbors rallied to his defense and filled the entire perimeter of his corner lot with toilets. All were decorated with flowers and balloons. I tried to find a link to the article about it, but it was too old I guess. Pretty funny, tho. Don't mess with people and their yard art!
