A chandelier I made/donated for a garden club sale. Neighbors' old fixture and some plastic pots I spray painted. Impatiens were rooted cuttings. Basically free. Sold for $45.

Thumbs up Thumbs up Aren't old light fixtures the best? So much can be done with them. Someone had the perfect spot in their garden or on their patio to hang that, no doubt. Worth every penny!

I never thought to take a photo before I took it to the sale, but I saw it a year later in the gazebo of the person who bought it. It had different flowers in it, but it had survived through the winter and was still being enjoyed.

Love the rusty wheels, Tamara! We have loads of place out here in the Southwest where you can all get rustiness galore. Guess it's cuz the pioneers were moving through on their way to California and left behind lots of stuff!?

Oh Tee, that looks like a perfect place to add candles...in those little holes.

Sandi, great chandelier... nice of you to donate it.

I did chairs for the fern symposiums that we'd have. It used to be easy to pick up an old chair and rip the cane seat off. I rarely see them out by the trash anymore. My DH is happy. He didn't like for me to tote a chair home that might have bugs!

I'll bet you created some beautiful fern chairs, Sandi.

I once bought a large new standing floor basket (rattan or wicker) from a popular Imports store, and when it was quiet in the house, I could hear something munching out in there. Never did discover the culprit(s) so either they lived out their lives in that basket or moved on. Confused

Same with antique furniture. I have an antique cherry bedroom set with a couple of pieces that show signs of insect infestation. Not termites, probably wood borers of some type. Very common for very old furniture. Blinking Big Grin

We took a trip through the Orient, while in Hawaii, and picked up some small carved owls in Singapore. I had them on the kitchen ledge "possessing " them because I had bought them as a gift for my neighbor when we got back to Austin. One day I saw tiny piles of sawdust on the ledge. There were some kind of borers in the owls. Someone told me to throw them in the freezer and it would kill the beetles. No problem after that.
I am cautious about picking up anything that would come into the house anymore. Our lake neighborhood has a flea market every year, and they no longer accept donations of anything that has fabric on it....bedbug fear. I would have never thought of that before. I'm pretty picky now. I was worried when we were in NYC recently, and picked the hotel that didn't have bug "issues."

Lots of very cool things in this thread !
Here's a "doo-hickey" I found a few years ago in the back of a property that was completely overgrown with trees, shrubs, weeds, old car parts, furniture, appliances, etc.
The house had been sitting vacant for years and someone bought the property and was tearing the place down. I drove by and saw a crew of guys hauling out everything imaginable and curiosity got the best of me.
When I saw this I knew I had to have it. The finish had all worn off of it and was down to the bare concrete. (It weighs about 600 lbs. and took 4 of us to move it out and put it in my truck.)
I took the pressure nozzle to it and all the old paint came right off, so I repainted it and put it in my garden. ( I'm not the best faux painter that ever came along, but I like how it turned out.) The gnome was an add-on someone gave me for Christmas.
I need to replant it with fall and winter color so don't pay attention to the plants that are in it right now. Broke the sprinkler pipe when I was moving it to this spot, but it's since been buried and it's not seen anymore.
