"Sandy, we just peel the outer wrapper and cut off the stems. We don't hang our garlic to dry, just spread it out on screen/wire shelves. "

Thanks, Arlene; that's pretty much the same thing I do -- but even after I peel a layer of wrapper off they still don't look very "clean." I don't mind for myself, but I give a fair amount away and wish I could figure out how to make it "prettier" ! Rolling my eyes.
(I also spread mine out on screens to dry.)

Nah, doesn't have to be pretty Sandy. The beauty is in the inside! Sometimes if you try to peel too many layers you risk exposing the cloves and that's not good. Some of mine are like that just because they grew like that. Anyone who knows anything about garlic won't pick those kind. We usually keep those for ourselves.

Trying to think of something yummy that can be frozen to make with the rest of them. Any ideas besides jam, muffins, bread, or breakfast treats?

Sandy, we just peel the outer wrapper and cut off the stems. We don't hang our garlic to dry, just spread it out on screen/wire shelves.

Sold quite a bit of garlic at market yesterday. We had so many tomatoes we decided to go to Wed. Market, plus with the holiday being Saturday we're not sure how busy it will be. I forgot to take any pictures though! We had nine trays of tomatoes and came back with three. Many were still on the green side so they should be just right for Saturday market. We picked three more trays today. These are the produce crates, about 18"X24". The Tree's Bottom Yellows really sold well.

Deer are getting inside the garden and nibbling on my sweet potatoes and black beans. Matt said they are also eating his Seven Sons bush and today I noticed they ate the tops off my J. Artichokes. We spread some Milorganite around. Hopefully that will help.

Dratted deer for eating on the veggies. I am surprised the tomatoes did not sell out. People always seem to want home grown tomatoes.

So here is the area where I made bamboo teepees and planted beans. Nothing has come up yet but it really is too soon.

Today I picked five squash (one green zucchini, two golden egg and two green tiger). I gave them to my vegan friend who said she already tasted the striped ones and that they are delicious.

These are the striped Green Tiger Zucchini.

Squash Patch is growing like crazy. Lots of little ones are coming along!

Peach caramel ice cream

9 peaches sliced, pitted, skinned, and chopped into cubes in the food processor, and dehydrated just until "not so juicy"
8 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups whole milk
2 lb caramel http://www.wilburbuds.com/pc_c...
1 1/2 cup sugar
5 tablespoons vanilla
8 egg yolks

It's important that the peaches are slightly dehydrated so there are not crunchy bits in the ice cream

the day before put caramel and 2 cups whipping cream in a bowl and microwave 1 minute at a time until you can stir together. Put in fridge until ready to make ice cream

In large pot, add the sugar and cook over medium until all the sugar is liquified. (yes, put it in dry), add remaining cream and milk and stir until sugar is remelted. Then, add small amounts to yolks until heated. Add egg mixture to cream and heat until simmering slightly around the edge.

Remove from heat and add vanilla and peaches, cool

Stir the peaches and put about 3 1/2 cups in ice cream maker and freeze, transfer into freezer container, add 1/3 of caramel mixture and slice through the ice cream with a spatula to get caramel to sink.

repeat until all ice cream is made.

eat as needed!

OMG--that sounds so good! One question--how do you "dehydrate" your peaches? Do you drain in a colender, roast them, blot on a paper towel?

No, i have a dehydrater similar to this one:

Thumb of 2015-07-03/texaskitty111/a4d973

I think a wide space between trays is important if you want to use it for more than making raisons
OR, you can put them on a parchment paper on a cookie sheet in the oven with the temp set as low as possible. Hopefully, under 140˚

That ice cream sounds soooo good!

I picked my first sugar snaps yesterday, maybe a cup - just enough for snacking. Sweet and Dee-lish! Also my first pepper an Anaheim type - forgot the name.
