Goldfinch Chris, DO put those birdhouses back out there by the road for sale! Instead of going to all the work to take them down every night & then putting them back up every morning, you could try this:
Get a bunch of small plastic bags & slip them over the houses every night. You could tie the bottom with string or use bungie's. Then you can slip them off in the morning. You could mount a prettily painted mailbox so you could stow the bags & ties in & would have them always handy for doing the birdhouses.

Ann, what a great idea! Unfortunately I don't sell them anymore. Too many other things to do. But if I ever start again I will certainly remember this. Thanks!

YVW. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees. I know it happens to me. Then someone will come along & say.... & I go OH! Duh, why didn't I think of that?

I have to agree! Love the rustic ones the best. I rescued my old barn one from my Mom's tree. She wanted me to repaint it and restore it, but I like the aged rustic look better, although one of my 3 yr old grandsons is going to help me fix the fence, lol! It bothers him that it's broken, and he wants to help fix things. Funny how twins can be so different, as his brother could really care less Hilarious!
Do any of you have butterfly houses? Do the butterflies use them? I picked up one of them earlier this year at a yard sale also, and wondered if they ever use them. I am overrun with little white butterflies this year but have never seen them in their house Hilarious! Wouldn't matter, as I like it anyway, but just wondered.

Sandi, I think butterfly houses are strictly decoration. I've seen many and have never heard to butterflies in them.

All these are terrific looking birdhouses!!! Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up

Shoe, the charred look is great and one that would be difficult to reproduce. The natural looking weathered (and burned) ones are wonderful! Big Grin
I garden for the pollinators.

Why not? I also love your charred birdhouse. Why couldn't one re-create the look?

We could. Would be a great winter project, huddled around a campfire and charring them, eh?

Why not have one of those artistic contests where the best charred birdhouse gets the prize? Shoe, your present one won't count; you'll have to do the work yourself this time instead of let ma nature do it for you. but I bet you can do a bang up job around a roaring campfire. Just don't burn anything important! Rolling on the floor laughing

I do have a butterfly house. My cousin made it for me and I've never seen a butterfly in or near it, so yeah, I think they are for decoration.

Instead of roasting marshmellows by the campfire, you could put the birdhouse on a stick and roast it Thumbs up
