Abby's Birdhouse is so cute, love the colors she chose! And, the one with the Queen's Hwy sign beneath ... very nice! Did you or your DH make the sign too?

Thank you both. Lin I love Abby's she's 9 going on 10 so it was fun to see how she did hers. Her sister has one also but I didn't get a picture sent of that one yet. The Hwy sign was bought by DH after we got our honey bees. It was already up when he made the bird houses.

Finally got some pictures of my birdhouses. Sorry about the ugly location but I quick took them yesterday when I was cleaning out my garden shed. These are only a few of the many that I've made. Didn't take pictures of most of them that I sold or gave away.

Must've sold about a dozen of these. Unfortunately the squirrels chewed most of the perches off this one.

Oops! Thanks Chris for bumping this with your photos - I had forgotten to revisit the thread and comment! *Blush* Wow, you "made" all those? Thumbs up I've just been using the 'decorative' houses from Michaels but I'd really prefer to learn how to make something more durable. I really like the last one, three on the post, and the Monarda is gorgeous! Lovey dubby

I'm loving all these photos, giving me plenty of ideas!

Margaret, I agree the colors on Abby's house really pop and I love the pink for the Queen's Highway. The idea of using the metal fence is brilliant! I'm supposed to be making a trellis for one of mine but maybe I'll start looking for something like your fence instead. Thanks for the idea! I tip my hat to you.

Sheila, the ceramic frog house is too cute and the purple post on 'Texas' has inspired me! I've just started on a mosaic birdhouse which will be the first of what I'm hoping will be 'Birdhouse Row', or maybe 'Street' or 'Avenue'? Whistling Each one will have its own theme...blues, yellows, etc. and my latest purchase was a church. I passed on the "saloon" but I might have to go back and get it - on one end a saloon, on the other end a church? Hilarious! I hadn't thought about the posts for the birdhouses but after seeing your purple post I think they should all be painted in bright colors to match their theme! Big Grin It's going to be a long winter, I've got WAY too many ideas! Rolling my eyes.

Thank you Debbie, I'll pass your comment on to Abby. The metal trellis is actually the decorative grill from a storm door that tore up. It's mounted on 2 metal fence posts.

All of the bird houses are so nice I'm having a hard time picking a favorite.

What an ingenious idea! Thumbs up I've looked at old metal bed frames and thought about using them but most of those I've found aren't narrow enough. I'll have to start looking for storm doors now! Thank you. I tip my hat to you.

Yes Vic, I made them all. The decorative part on blue and white one I drew then cut out with a scroll saw. The red one is made of old barn boards. You can't tell in the picture, but the perch is an old rusty bolt. The design in the cedar house was also cut out with a scroll saw. Our neighbor cut down an old tree and gave me some hollow pieces of it in exchange for making one into a birdhouse for her. The three-in-one I also designed and built. I had also made some of these in green and blue. They all have vent holes and a removable part to clean the houses. I also designed tall stands for them (about 5') that I had somebody make for me. They were made of the same metal that "plant poles" are made of, and I had him weld metal plates with holes in them on the top so I could mount the houses to the poles. That way if you didn't have a tree you could still have a birdhouse outside.

I live on a highway and used to just put them in the front yard with a for sale sign. Business was good! But I had to clean them out and bring them in the shed every night because the blasted birds kept building nests in them! Quite a few people asked if the birds were included when they bought the houses. The birds were good advertising though - proved birds liked them. Hilarious!

This can only be a birdhouse! It was at least 15 foot up in the air!
This is a funny sight along a road somewhere in the Tx hill country. My sister and I were on our way to Fredricksburg area and taking pictures along the way of odd mailboxes. She works in a mailroom and wanted to make a black and white collage of them. The second pic is is a trashed birdcage that I rescued and painted red.

How cute Chris! I love them! Too funny that the birds moved in so fast! Hilarious!

Here is a couple shots of my birdhouses, none of which I made, as I have no talent.... Whistling

This is my red, white, and blue bed

And this is the new one that I got over the weekend at a yard sale. Not sure where I'll put it yet but it was just so colorful and cute, so had to have it!

Sure are some purty birdhouses in this thread! Great jobs, ya'll!

Mine isn't so beautiful but I have to say it is rather "rustic" and stood the test of time. Made from rough cut oak lumber taken from a barn that went down in a tornado almost two decades ago. I made several of them and have them placed along the woods line/garden area.

This one, unfortunately, was on a tree next to a building that was burnt down a few years back. Although it's now a bit charred I kept it and mounted it in a new place. It still gets used frequently and is the Grandpa of all birdhouses on the farm.

Chris, those are beautifully constructed...love that the birds couldn't resist them! I liek the three post one too the best!

Sheila, that is a hoot! And your red cage sure adds a pop of color to the porch. Nice rescue.

Sandi, those are cute houses too... my favorite is the red one that looks like a barn I think. rustic!

Shoe, I agree...the charred wood adds to the charm!
