Claudia, I agree with Rita that those Golden Girls certainly look nice! (if only "looking nice" was good enough for tomatoes, though...)

Sometimes it thunders but doesn't rain. Sometimes the sky is blue but abruptly blows up a storm and BUCKETS of rain pours from the sky!
Sometimes it rains on my side of the street. . . but it remains dry (and hot!) right across the street! And sometimes, it thunders mightily, the sky darkens and the ferocious wind whips the trees. . . and I think "We're REALLY gonna get a torential rain!" only to have it POOF! after half an hour!!

I watered my tomato plants 'cause it was only thundering. . . then it POURed when I'm almost finished or heading for the house. I didn't begin to water once 'cause it started raining. . . only to have it quit after half n hour of half-hearted showers. I watered even tho the forecast was for rain, but by evening nothing had happened. . . the rain started about an hoiur after I finished and the sun set.

Just TRY to rely on it raining to water my plants for me. . and it doesn't! But it has no problem on drenching me or drowning my just-watered plants!!
(Excuse my rant... . the weather fooled me again, nigh on drowning me before I reached the safety of my house!! I HATE getting all wet n dirty!!!!!!!)

Golden Girl is okay taste wise so we would consider growing again. Just not a real standout. Production is excellent! I have had to give some away because we had too many ripe ones at one.

@BetNC I hear ya about the rain/watering! But your tomatoes look good! Thumbs up We have very dependable rain until the last 2 weeks. We were supposed to get rain Friday night but it was a no show at my house! No rain in the forecast until Thursday or Friday this week. I up it shows up this time. Crossing Fingers!

I just ordered some Country Taste Tomato seeds for next year. Whistling I went thru what I had and pitched the ones I did not want to try again for various reasons. But still have all the seeds I tried this year but had no luck getting them going plus a couple I have not even had a chance to grow yet.

If I had not all the blossom drop we would be swimming in tomatoes. But it has been a pretty good year this year! Thumbs up

Bet, I see those ugly tomatoes of yours are cracked like crazy. I just hate when that happens. And yes, I no longer grow any varieties that crack like that for me.

Who can figgure out the rain? Yesterday all day they weather guessers were saying the thunder showers were coming any minute now. Of course nothing happened and I had not watered. So had to get out there and water today.

Claudia, I think you will like Country Taste. They are really lovely and perfect looking tomatoes.

Not a disease just something that happens to tomatoes and they get those deep cracks radiating out from the stem.

I was thinking from the yellowish green, though that might just be their color

Looking at green tomatoes sit on the vine is torture...

I'm gonna call these salad tomatoes. They are too big to be cherries.
Thumb of 2016-08-09/robynanne/310a50

The sky reachers look so cool, I want them to be red so I can try them!

Interesting striping on those Sky Reachers.

Maybe the salad tomatoes will turn out to be golfball size? I called that size saladettes. Big Grin

I am totally bummed out. I cannot find my tomato invoice and I have no idea what I am growing. Just picked my first two tomatoes yesterday and wanted to evaluate them and now I can't remember what I have. Will have to go through my tomato catalogs and see if I can figure it out.

Well I found some tomatoes in the catalog that I had a check mark next too so could be those, maybe Grandma's Pick, Fantastic and Buffalo Steak. Couldn't figure out which paste tomato but might be most likely San Marzano Gigante 3, which I was thinking of trying. I had thought that I ordered Goliath to try but totally not sure.

I no longer grow cherry tomatoes so that variety can be eliminated.

We were a week late planting this year because of all the rain in the spring. Boy I wished mother nature would have saved some rain for later. We are only getting about l/4" a week and we need much more.

That must be so frustrating! I have found that putting them either in my plant list or in a blog here works good for me anymore. That way I know I have the names on here in case I have a momentary lapse it what I have the year. Whistling

I actually wrote the name of the tomato variety on surveyors tape and tie it to the tomato cage,. That way it is there anytime I want to look.

I agree This was not a problem this year only having 3 varieties here, but I always attach some type of marker to the cage or stake too.. I have also made a map of which was planted where and taped it up in the kitchen.

I have a Word file named "Tomatoes" where I have tracked each variety I've tried by the year, then rated them as either Good, Not So Hot, or Bleh. I only grow 4-6 plants per year and wait until June to set out purchased plants, so often am limited to what is available locally. My tomato supports are different colored twisties, which makes it easy to note who is planted where each year. I try to buy a couple tried-and-true Goods and a couple new-to-me varieties. Funnily, my profile shows me as a regular contributor to Tomatoes when in reality that is a rather minor part of my gardening. Hope you can sort out what you are growing this year.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
