Neal, your garden is lovely! I keep going back at looking at the pics of your spring blooming bulbs that were just gorgeous! Planting in clumps of 10-20 is a wonderful idea.

I will be working on removing more grass, to create scalloped edges in some of my back garden beds. Hopefully, my DH won't notice the missing grass, LOL Rolling on the floor laughing !

Thanks Annette! Of course I agree that grass is over rated, LOL!

I think spreading smaller clumps throughout will make it look more like they occurred that way naturally, kind of random like you would see wildflowers. That's what I'm going for at least.

Weak moment in gardening aisle at Walmart:
35 Darwin hybrids tulips
35 Dutch master daffodils
20 Purple Sensation alliums
10 Leucojum snow flakes

All 100 bulbs will go into one longer trench.
I am hoping the alliums and daffodils keep guard on the tulips.
The squirrels like the tulips bulbs.

Nice choices Caroline, and a manageable amount of bulbs to plant.

Yes----some years I have been known to get carried away, and then it becomes a chore to plant them all.

The getting carried away is yearly here. I'm trying to add bulbs this year that will continue to return, and lessen the number I need to plant each fall.

I saw bulbs displayed at Lowe's a couple of days ago, they're hitting the shelves early this year.

I'm really excited to see Red Aria and Winter Waltz, both relatively new additions to the catalog. Hardy Lee and Art Design have been on my want list for a long time too.

I realized last spring that I have paid little attention to solid yellow daffodils for many years. I think because various yellow trumpets were what I thought of as common. This year I decided to try an assortment of various yellow trumpets and large cups and start making up for lost time Smiling

Also looking forward to Snow Baby- while I'm not all that big on miniatures, I do love solid white daffs. I think a drift of those little white trumpets will be stunning!

Way to go Neal!
I forced Snow Baby last year and was pleasantly surprised as it exceeded expectations, a diminutive but wonderful display (so, I ordered more this year). The pure white daffs, as a group, are probably my favorite grouping - regal, pristine, luminous and ethereal.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

Oh, speaking of all white daffs, I've got some of those Petrel sports with the double cups for you Jack. Treemail me your addy and I'll get those in the mail Smiling
