Off topic...I hear you folks got a little taste of California living today in the NE! Any of you feel it?

I didn't feel it but the owner of the store I was in's chair was shaking and he knew it was an earthquake immediately.

That's mostly the reaction here too.

We rarely get that much damage here...different type of quake, and most buildings are built, or retrofitted for them.

You can see most of my flowers are eaten by something. All I can see is ants all over the place.

Slugs? Caterpillars?

I would think they eat the plant leaves too but I only have the petals affected.
I also don't see anything like that. Just ants scurrying about.

Grasshoppers? Katydids? Loopers?

Why eat boring leaves when you can dine on tasty blooms? Someone sure has some yummy meals there, grr.

If the light colored flowers are more affected than the dark ones, it could be thrips.

You oviously can't see anything eating them during the day, my guess would have to be slugs.

Slugs, snails, or grasshoppers would be my guess. If it is snails or slugs you should be seeing slime trails though. For the second season, I have those small, green grasshoppers eating my garden. So far, they haven't bothered the Orchids.

Another bloom on Bulbo echinolabium, this one is blooming since May and I am always glad it blooms mainly in Summer...

Caulocattleya Paul Vondersaar is getting better every year/ nice bloom count this year.

This is a first bloom on this Cattleya aclandiae, finally.
