I didn't, Karen, left them the way they were and planted. I'm pretty much a novice with tree peonies--it didn't even occur to me to remove the nurse root. You're right though, all of them did have their own roots as well, some of the nurse roots were gone already. Should I dig that one back up and cut it off or leave it?

I am only wondering, Liz! I really do not know whether the nurse root should be cut off or kept. If you have already planted it, I think you should not worry about it.

I would leave that grafted root on. It will strength that little plant. In a couple years, you can do that, should you want to dig it up. They would have separated it upon digging it if it was best, I would think.

I don't order from many vendors this year but of the ones that I have already received, they have been fantastic. Gilbert Wild, Adelman, and Swenson all sent very nice root divisions. In fact, Swenson sent such big roots that I had to split a few. I am still waiting on my last peony order from Bannister. It should be shipped soon as I saw that they have charged my credit card. I can't wait for next spring! I hope to get some flowers from these new peonies. These roots are from Swenson

My TP order that I had received @ late September. Karen, that's the size I was expected from CharMarron, even a one year grafted TP I would be happier that what I was received.

Wow, those look awesome! Yes, I agree they definitely look much better and more mature than those from Charmarron. Can I ask where did you purchase these tree peonies from? Are they from China?

Yes, Karen, they are from China. My brother in law order those from a grower and shipped it to me. I kept 9 of them, and sale the rest on EBay and others, try to make up for the shipping cost. I had a good peony year to look forward to next spring. Can't wait!

Nice looking trees Yan! I'm looking forward to seeing your blooms next spring!

My Bannister order arrived today, no call or email to let me know they were coming, so this was a nice surprise.

I just got done working, and I'm too lazy to take them out of the bag, so here are a few quick pics. I'm very pleased with the roots sent, and they were very good prices with the discount.

I also orders from them 2 Mammoth and 2 Pink Derby, but those weren't sent. I'll have to call tomorrow to see what happened to them.

Hopefully, next spring. They look pretty good. If they don't next spring, they most likely will bloom the following year. I am still waiting on my order. Can't wait!

Which did you get, Mary Stella? Annette, I got a call from Neva on Sunday, they didn't have 2 that I ordered. I should've just reduced the order but I ended up ordering replacements. I also ordered Mammoth from them, hope it comes in.

Liz, I spoke with Bannister's this evening, I won't be getting Pink Derby, or the 2 Mammoth I wanted. She said some of the roots were either too small or they no longer had any. I'll check to see where I can find these plants next year. I love the size of the roots sent, and I did let her know that. I wish I had ordered from them in years past.

My Bannister order will be shipped on Friday. I just got a text message from Neva if they can substitute. I said no substitution.

Annette, I'm sure I won't get Pink Derby and Mammoth either. But I will be extremely glad if I get Rose Heart just like yours. That is one huge root!

@Lizinelizabeth, I got Coral Sunset, Red Charm, Prairie Afire, Nosegay and May Lilac, Do Tell. Just realized that I had also ordered Old Rose Dandy, the most expensive one and it didn't arrive. I went out and checked what I had planted and sure enough it isn't there. I put orange tags on the new peonies and lilies so it was easy to check. I will send Neva a note.

I received my order from Bannister today. Some peonies were missing from my order. I thought they would come later but found out from an email from Neva that they didn't have the 4 varieties that I ordered. So sad that they ran out of Lavender and Maestro as I really was looking forward to getting those two peonies. Anyway, overall I am happy with what I receive as Neva sent huge roots of Commando and Nosegay, the other 2 on my wanted list. Don't have my camera ready but all of mine look pretty much like what Annette had posted. Good luck everyone with your plantings. Hope to see pics of your new peonies blooms next year.

I got my boxes today but won't be able to do anything with them until Friday. Really hope the only 2 that are missing are the ones she called about, not holding out a lot of hope after hearing of missing items in everyone's order. Frustrating.

Sorry you didn't get your peonies either Mary and Karen. I'm just thinking for the ones I didn't get, it's 3 less plants to get into the ground. I'm going to be working in the garden this weekend to get the plants in.

I'm also looking forward to everyone's blooms next spring.

Neva sent an email and sure enough the missing peony "Old Rose Dandy" was not available. She said to check with them next year "if they don't sell out the fields this year." So they are trimming back or going out of business?

She didn't charge me and it was the most expensive one @ $50 so I am not entirely unhappy. Buyer's remorse 'ya think? Rolling on the floor laughing

Does anyone grow Adonis, Princess Margaret, Myra Macrae? Would love to know their growing habits and to see their pics if you have them.
