Amen to that Jim, "Such is life"!

Sorry to hear about the attack. Sounds quite childish, and petty, on the 'alpha males' part... Thumbs down

But I love the "Bright side"!!!! Hurray! Congratulations on your winning ribbons! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Glad to hear the day in the OC was good. Smiling Hi Lindsey!

Perhaps the club members will own up to their responsibility, and make the choice between the two of you. I won't hold my breath for that to happen, Jim, but sometimes people develop a backbone. Whistling If they don't value your generous time/effort/plants given over the years, well, its their loss. I certainly wouldn't lose a minutes sleep over it.

Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Sighing!
Jim...I just got here...you can't quit yet! The guy is a major jerk..and everyone saw that yesterday.
I had a fabulous tour of Jim's garden and orchid conservatory...every where I looked..things were
in bud, in spike..The out door landscaping was out of this world...pictures we see on this site just
doesn't do it justice!
Elaine, I am still in the process of scheduling workers and am trying not to get my calendar too jammed
up so that I can work with their schedules. I still need to get benches constructed..re rig the gutters to
drain into a rain barrel ..go to Miami and pick up what's left of my collection at my sister's house. I have
just joined the Tampa Orchid Club and instantly volunteered to be their photographer and I think theres
a couple of events in October that I will have to be at...So if I can...I will...if not...there will be other opportunities !

Hang on gang... The president sent my resignation letter to the entire board and the alpha male called her and resigned. Then he sent me a email saying I lied from the back of the room but the spat was between just the two of us. That he was not going to attend future meetings and would be out of town for the Expo. Then he asked me to stay on in the club because I had a lot to offer. I feel like this is the story of a wolf pack on Animal Planet. I wrote him back and told him that the difference between us wasn't so much in the grooming of display orchids but in the way to treat each other. I also said his egotistical, caustic behavior in front of members was hurting the club and the reason we couldn't get new volunteers. I also said his orchid knowledge was a tremendous asset but it came at too high a price. I wonder what will happen next? I'm reloading as I type...

Some (ugly) people just want to be boss, they are lacking that opportunity in other parts of their life. They are not worth fussing and fuming over. Remember what our grandmother's said, "the cream always rises to the top."

I agree Teflon! Don't let his vitriol stick to ya. Sounds like he is trying to save face whilst backing out of an inexcusable gaffe. If you stay and he leaves, the world will be a better place.

Lindsay, don't try to do everything in one week, now!

Elaine...not to worry about me trying to do everything in one week...I have to wait for the beginning of October for a fresh infusion of much needed cash! Rolling on the floor laughing
Jim....I'm so relieved that the alpha male seems to have slunk off and is now licking his wounds.. and the board ( I'm sure are relieved as well) probably put some pressure on him for that to happen..they know what an asset you are to the orchid community...and they also know that you are a gentleman above all.

Both were from Kawamoto Orchids

Lindsey, perhaps your Blc. Keonee 'Newberry' may have some similar parentage of my Blc. Mem. Vida Lee 'Limelight'.

Could be, Ken...I'm not positive of the ID on mine as my sisters squirrels seem to removed most (if not all ) of the tags. I did keep 'some' records of where some of the plants went and am trying to use that as a guide..another of my plants went to Kathy.. Blc. Keonee 'Mendenhall' so I was able to eliminate that for the ID . My sister said it has 5 buds on it so it will be a nice show for her!

The name of Lindsey's orchid is Bc. Keowee 'Newberry'. Note the spelling. Both it and Bc. Memoria Vida Lee 'Limelight' have lots of B. nodosa and C. dowiana in their profiles so they are indeed related.

Thanks for the kind words, Lindsey.

As for Rhyncattleanthe [Rth.] Cherry Suisse ' Kauai' HCC/AOS (note name and spelling changes), here is a picture so you can compare and make your own call. I think it looks close.

I'm going to have to buy a HUGE supply of tags...to replace all the ones the Miami squirrels stole...the only ones they probably left were the ones that were wrong to begin with like my new Alcra Marfitch 'Howards Dream'!

That red on Cherry Suisse is just luscious. I have a new bloom, or several on one plant that popped today, Bc. Punakea. As usual the camera adds red and takes away blue so the blooms are a little more purple than these shots show.
