Glad someone started a Sept thread. Last Lilting Belle bloomed yesterday and the last 2 Pastel Pinks are blooming today. Still blooms on Pumpkin Time, August Flame and Sandra Elizabeth. Have 2 nice rebloom scapes with buds on a little one called Little Sunny Eyes. Funny that it is one of the few rebloomers in my garden and I received it as a free gift.

Thank you, to all of you who continue to share your few blooms, I have sporadic bloom on rebloom scapes for Stella, Going Bananas, and Oceans Eleven. I have had a fair amount of my late new additions put up scapes, but our goat, Bella, has recently found a way out of her pen, that I can't find, and just loves eating the young buds. I have two she has not found yet, and have fingers crossed that she won't. Bella was a triplit, and was so tiny that she could fit in my hands cupped together. We brought her in the house and some how got her to survive and flourish, but if she keeps getting out next spring, and eats all the young buds on my Daylilies, I'm having Chivo Tacos. Not really, but I'm not going to be happy Rolling on the floor laughing

Watching carefully for the yet to bloom two plants that did not bloom this summer. Tomorrow its supposed to be almost 90 degrees in the mountains of Vt. Hoping both those plants and little sdlg. up front in the sdlg. bed decide to bloom tomorrow. Like Char, I have been digging in the dirt, transplanting, and moving plants around. I also found a re-bloom scape on 'Tides Roll In' and 'Buddy's Victoria Jade'. Amazing weather we are having now. What a wonderful gift! Whistling

fulva var. angustifolia and Citrus are both my favorite daylily color.

Here's Pumpkin Time still building those buds.

Sandra Elizabeth has lots of buds left. Moving a few fans to the front garden for next year. It is a favorite very late.

Sunny Eyes sent up 2 rebloom scapes with lots of buds. This little beauty is growing in way too much shade but doesn't seem to mind. Always lots of buds.

Well, those 2 new daylily's are beginning to open this morning but not wide enough to grab a photo. Even though we are under a warm spell in the East, our nights cool down to the 60's. We are expecting light rain showers this afternoon, and that is welcomed because its been so dry recently. We will be back in the 80's this weekend. Hurray! Here are some of the flowers still blooming this morning:

'Emerald Dream' An outstanding bloom with its green edge

Thumb of 2015-09-03/ARoseblush/22f5d4

'Keep on Keeping On' and 'Red Ragamuffin' blooming side by side.

'Ruffles Have Ripples'

and from my mountain deck overlooking the ski resort, some gorgeous 'Hibiscus' plants are in full bloom. I hope it's okay to post them here. They are just gorgeous.

Lost tag on this one...a gift from my 90 yr. old neighbor who has a 2nd home up here. Once a year we have lunch together at the Golf Course which is always fun. She is very in tune with all aspects of life. She looks 70 and acts like she is 50. Just an amazing gal! This gorgeous bloom is over 8" in diameter from the 'Von Trapp' Nursery here in our Valley, grandson of Maria, from the 'Sound of Music' fame.

Purchased 14 yrs ago from the 'Marie Selby Botanical Gardens' in Siesta Key, Fla.when I spent an entire Winter on the Island. A prolific double bloomer. Spends the Winter's in my house, and the Summer's on my outside deck.

and one more from the 'Selby Botanical Gardens'

7" eye-candy Hibiscus bloom.

I also found a large re-bloom scape on 'Journey of Magic' which was surprising to me as this plant has not been an easy one for me to grow. My feelings now are that some new plants really do take 3 yrs. to get acclimated in my New England garden.

Emerald Dream is looking fabulous with this extended warm weather. ...I am so ready for the heat and humidity to go away and for the temps to cool a bit. A few blooms were open today, Outrageous, Cimarron Rose, Tall Blonde and Barbara Barnette. I forgot to get images...
Lovely hibiscus Alex. My hardy ones are putting on a good show in the display garden now that the daylilies are pretty much done.

Alex - As usual, your photos give us some much needed blooms! I am looking forward to some cooler weather, but can't wait for Spring to see Daylily blooms again.

Your hibiscus blooms are very pretty! I have a love-hate relationship with them here in Florida. Between the pests and the diseases, they are a pain to grow here in Florida. I stopped even trying to grow them 20+ years ago. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! You'd think being a tropical plant that they would do well in Florida. Sometimes they do, but many times they don't. I don't know if it is the root knot nematodes or what, but they never grow well for me unless they are in a container. I am trying to eliminate as many containers as I can. (Too much of a challenge to water in summer.) So they aren't even on my radar these days. Glad to see they do very well for you. Smiling Thumbs up

Hi Ken.....'Emerald Dream' is just a wonderful plant in every respect. Your bloom is simply lovely, Ken. Thumbs up Two things come to mind for me. It is blooming really late this summer.Like 3 weeks. The other thing different this year is the color on my blooms. Usually, the petals are much paler and creamy. This year there is a noticeable peachy tint on the petals. The green edge is outstanding as usual. I believe its because I used the 'alfalfa pellets' this year, and not my usual 'organic alfalfa meal'. That will be corrected soon, as I am getting ready to order the meal in another week. The same has occurred with some other blooms where the pellets were applied. These are just suspicions, not conclusions. Next year, I will know more. I haven't used this plant much in my hybridizing program, but intend to. I have the entire Winter to work out what plants, I would like to cross this plant with that will hopefully carry that green edge into a new bloom. Always interesting.
