What is it about Lilies of any kind?
They evoke such feelings of solemnity and mystery.
I have a asia mix from Buggy. They are just fantastic.I never believed so many different shapes.
I am not a lily expert so I expected the asiatics that bloomed off of the long buda at the top of the plant. I have some that are recurved and delicate.
I cant wait for the rest to open, they're on there way.

Tracey, I acquired a bunch of trumpets when I really didn't know very much. I was collecting orientals and trumpets and noticed that the orientals were more problematical. And the trumpets consistently had scent and were just bulletproof in my climate. So I just grabbed Regale from B&B (first lily, actually), Silver Sunburst and White Henryi from OHG, Emerald Temple from B&D, Amethyst Temple from WFF. I thought I was a bit boring and pedestrian, since the colors are all subtle (which is why I'm getting so much into red now) but I've really come to love them. And, oddly, some are getting very hard to find. And they multiply so well I've been able to give some to my trumpetless friends down south, which is fun and very rewarding.

And of course my Avatar is Amethyst Temple. Talk about melting the heart!

Hope you don't mind the sort of duplication, but I thought that Brushstroke (which I've had for years) and Champagne (brand new) would complement both each other and the nepeta. I am pleased about the way it came out.

Donna those are lovely.I have had White Henri for many years and am trying to re establish the one and only I brought from the old house.
Regals from B&B are to die for.The scent is too much sometimes.
Such great surprises from BuggyC asiatic mix.

Dont cha luv it?

YES, I do! The amazing thing is, those Regales were $6 for 5! I put them in a place where they got shaded out, so I moved them and they thrived. I gave three clumps, each of which had three lilies, to a neighbor. I still have a bunch.

It's so great.

I bought the Buggy Crazy everything mix and am loving it too ge. Every morning now a new surprise. I think I got a 'Firetruck' in mine. I was over at her site last night trying to see what else looked familar....maybe a 'PYC' too. Lisa certainly has a gift for hybridizing and growing lilies. I hope someday she will get the recognition she deserves for all she has done. It would be very, very well deserved.

The trumpets I have are not the ones you have Donna. I bought a few trumpets at my old house and left them there, I think. It wasn't until I saw some in the B&D catalog, 'Lord Samuel Hood' in particular, years ago, that my interest was peaked. Then came the Lily Garden trumpets (Chorlier Strain, Sinfonia) and then a glimpse at one I never did find of Ed McRae's that I am grateful to have found a cross of in the NALS seed exchange. Coming in to the PNWLS, under the wire you might say, the last time Ed Mc Rae's trumpets were offered. Then finally, trumpets from seed....they are some of the easiest and most reward little buggers you can do.

Donna, I'd say your planting above is graceful. They blend together perfectly. I'm glad you liked how things turned out there.

I couldn't be happier. The fun part was that, although I wrote locations down, I hadn't consulted my notes. So every day is a surprise. I've never been more enchanted with lilies than I am this year. Didn't think it was possible!

OHHHHH Cheezus "notes" I have real memory problems and will make plans and notes all the time and when I get to tha garden I change some things and dont correct the notes.Months later I am blameing the vendor for sending the wrong color etc.
I'm sure youve been there.
Here are my Regals,I might have posted them earlier somewhere else but they are over 7 feet this third year.
They were a mistake from B&B should have been Lady Alice.

If I recall, does Lady Alice look rather like White Henryi?

I wish I could say that I sprayed water to get the water effect every day of the lilies in bloom, but it has been unbelievably wet here this summer.

'Yellow Splash', at least I think that's it...I know it's Yellow something...if I'm wrong I will come back and correct it. It's a Buggy lily.

'Pink Panther', I rescued this one from driveway salt and poor soil two falls ago and one of the bulbs turned out virused, so I was happy to have this one left. Crossing my fingers for vigor and health for this one down the road.
