What are you digging Rob? (this is kind of like looking at the dessert menu and trying not to order anything) Hilarious!

Some things are already dug up, but there are more to go. I'll make a list of what and how many of each when I'm all done. These darn heat waves are slowing everything down. So as soon as the weather consistently cools down, my iris activity will heat up.

Looks like Leslie is wearing the crown this year. Hilarious! Then again, we don't know Barbara's final number yet. Green Grin!

Well my crown is slipping. I knew that count had to be wrong. It is 287, not 387, so what the Hey! What are you offering Rob???

I'm relatively new here.

Last summer, I put a bed of 65 different rhizomes down at our farm in southeast Missouri, thinking it would be pretty, and because my mom and grandma love(d) them, and because a well-known St. Louis irisarian was selling out her garden before she sold her property to the city.....

Anyway, got a bit carried away with my "little interest". It's now bloomed (pardon the pun) into a full-blown pain in my husband's a$$, as I've added about 80 new ones this summer, most of them here at home in St. Louis. It required the building of a great big retaining wall in our back yard. Someone wasn't happy. But I was. Hurray!

So now, it's sit and wait and twiddle my thumbs until next spring. Whistling

I guess I'm just getting started, huh?

Do you think anyone has ever gotten a divorce over irises? Confused

DoubleDogDare,

Welcome Welcome! to our group. I'm relatively new here too, but have been growing iris for many years, with a gap for a few years. Sounds like you have really got the bug. Hope you like taking pictures; we love to see pictures of other gardens. I even bought a camera on E-Bay to be prepared for next spring. This is a good group, happy to share ideas and iris.

Welcome to IrisRus, DDD. While waiting for spring bloom season we manage to get through long winters by sharing iris stories, photos and encouragement from other members and new members are always welcome. I have never heard of a divorce over irises, however, I have heard about them being held 'hostage' in a divorce and being a contributing factor in another. That is rare and most of the time the spouse of an iris lover learns to either capitulate or join the fray to some degree. What types/class do you grow?

What a fun thread this has become again this year! I have too many other plant interests, little room left and gophers that love Iris so I stayed in the 'kids stuff' this year, but only by purposely trying to avoid looking at, or at least lingering at, all the tempting photo parades!
