Love the V. lamellata. You must have all kinds of fragrances going on there!

I'm just back from church and leaving again at 1:00 for an ALF concert. Cloudy and misting for several days with a few thunder showers yesterday. Still muggy outside and looking like more rain. They are calling for a drop in temps tomorrow. I sure hope so. This has been a very warm November.

I think the Chia Lin scent tops right now everything! No complaints here. Smiling

I just saw Ursula's picture of a repotted Onc. Sharry Baby and thought to myself: you should see mine. Smiling
I'm getting to be a bit of a specialist with oncidiums types and have over 50 of them. Onc. Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' truly is a wonder as to how long they can put out their wonderful aroma. I divided a Sharry Baby 'Red Fantasy' into (6) a few years ago and now have these big sprays with plants that need division again but I don't have the heart. Some will stay in baskets for the duration.

While I'm here let me show you what opened today on the dark side. This Monn. Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' AM/AOS has six spikes two fully open and the others just starting out of the root system with a 7th coming out of one of the plant stems. It's a real beauty to behold.

Those are all amazing plants, Fred. Great growing job.

I'm always looking to trade divisions, for whatever I have, so if you decide to divide any of your plants, let me know.

Otherwise it's pretty much orchid heaven around here. I'm especially fond of my brassidiums two of which are blooming right now too.

It's a real hassle with shipping larger plants Ken. Still, I have lots of plants with many duplicates. (6) Gct. Renate 'S & W' for example and lots of Ett. Don Herman 'Gold Rush'. Both seem to be almost constant bloomers.

BTW in three weeks I'll be off to Singapore to see more orchids. Smiling

I hear that from lots of people. They love lime and magnesium. I dissolve dolomite powdered lime and use Calmag quite liberally for all my orchids but the oncids get watered more often as they dry out right away.

Those Onc's of yours sure have a pile of pseudobulbs, Fred - good to know about the lime and Mg, too. Thanks! Mine get watered with straight well water so I'll bet that water has some lime in it, but I also have some I could put on them.

Your Sharry Babies are magnificent, but much as I love fragrant flowers and chocolate, the scent of that one is just overpowering to me. I bought one for my daughter, though, and she loves it.

I am jealous, Fred, not only of your great growing but, my gosh, you are going to Singapore for orchids! Sighing!

It is 25 F right now. My two greenhouses were a little coolish (I only have installed one heater in each) so I turned on the T-5 HO lights to warm them up some. I use two heaters, one at each end) in my greenhouses but I just haven't gotten around to installing those second ones. I am about to order two, 220V heaters to eliminate all the 110V heaters I use. I will have an electrician run special, dedicated lines to each greenhouse when I get those two heaters in. I won't have to worry about heat from now on. Both heaters are rated to heat a greenhouse three times the size I have but I can set the wattage so that the heat will be more suitable to my small greenhouses.

Fred, I wasn't really talking about shipping specimen-size plants, but having large duplicate plants divided into 3-4 and shipping those smaller divisions. Let's chat about this via T-Mail or "real" email.

Awesome Fred!....don't we all wish for multiple spikes..especially on the fragrant ones!
Elaine, I had cut an armful of fragrant lilies ( Anastasia I think it was called ) in advance of a hurricane...
They stayed in the house exactly one minute and then were banished to to garage ....Beautiful fragrance...
but a little goes a long way sometimes!
I've replenished the cash supply in my wallet...our orchid club is going shopping in Apopka tomorrow...oh dear... Whistling

We're flying out early tomorrow morning for my sister-in-law's house in northern Virginia. It is one of those things you do when you're married. We'll be back in a week. Keep posting those pretties while I'm gone. Happy Thanksgiving all.

The Vandachostylis Lou Sneary is now fully open, and as Elaine mentions, the blooms have a beautiful scent.

Fred, your Sharry Baby puts mine to shame, and I thought I was doing pretty good with it! Hilarious! Yours is HUGE! I LOVE the fragrance of it, and bring mine in the house as soon as it has open flowers. That Witchcraft is AMAZING! Fred Clark was a speaker at our OS meeting a year or two ago and I tried to get a black ctsm. from him...I got 2 crosses (one of which died right away) and the other, while growing, has never bloomed. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE yours! Love your buggy brassidiums too!
What's your secret to suck success with the oncidiums? I can keep mine alive but they sure don't look like yours! Have any tips you can share??

Ursula I am so jealous of that Lou Sneary that you and Elaine have! I love the delicate blue it has on it, and so many flowers! I would love to smell it! Also jealous of the phrag, which I can't even attempt to grow here! It really does look like a little ballet slipper! Chi Lin is beautiful! Not usually my favorite color of orchids, but that one really stands out with the yellow centers and all that ruffle!
